Lurker...
On a side note, I was a bit surprised by this answer. I know it's a daunting task to keep a tag on all FR novels, but I would have expected WotC to give Greg pointers to existing Star Elf references.

I hope they provide a web enhancement like the one for Sons of Gruumsh which updates the module to higher levels. I don't mind substituting critters with a higher CR for others, but if the opponents have class levels then it's too much work for me. And figuring out the proper amount of additional spoils is also annoying.
It then borders on "enough work for me to do that I'd rather design my own adventure".
Yep, I am spoiled...

..and in Final Gate, the most recent of the Last Mythal series, the Waymeet, a joining place for all portals in the Realms, is described - word for word - as a Citadel of Glass. |

Dragolich? Planar Dragons? Cult of the Dragons?
That would all fit in perfectly into the "Year of Dragons" as announced on WotC homepage.
I am excited! |

I asked Greg Vaughan and he says that it is definitely a 32-page book (or so says his paycheck ).
He also mentioned that there will be a tie in to an article from Dragon #344. In there I see an article by him on Dracoliches and an article on Planar Dragons.
Maybe a tie in to the box on page 88 and involving Nartheling, the Cult of the Dragon and Grail of Shargrailar?

I'd speculate that there will be plenty about Sildeyuir (if not the majority of the adventure). Though WotC may be interested in expanding the Star Elves' place in the Realms, Sildeyuir is still "in" the Realms, at least to the extent of being coterminus. It's also quite important in that it is the staging ground for the Nilshai to attack the Realms through.
In addition, a foray into the pocket plane is something I'm pretty sure most players would quite enjoy--it's anything but safe, and Nilshai are definately fun creatures to send at your players.
My campaign is set in Aglarond, and one of the major NPCs is a star elf (he's the "Charlie" of my "angels" )
I'm currently involving the players in the whole Age of Worms saga, and I plan for the Nilshai to have a major role in it. I'm thinking to have them be in league with Kyuss, which is getting stronger and stronger, and the Nilshai are boring away at the seals of his dimensional prison, etc. -- the more they destroy Sildeyuir, the closer is Kyuss to get free. They're not mindless thralls though: Kyuss is in fact afraid or wary of these creatures, and the alliance is circumstancial at best. The Nilsai does not care about Kyuss, but are more than happy to destroy Sildeyuir for their own dark purposes. The deal is that after Kyuss is released, he will let them rule over the remains of Sildeyuir and generally let them be. To spur them into action and hasten the destruction of Sildeyuir, Kyuss has also promised them relics and artifacts that he will no longer require after his rebirth.
I can't wait to see what will happen to Sildeyuir in Twilight Tomb! |

The Star Elves are quite an recent addition and I think it would be wise for WotC to explain their background and origins such as why are they called "Star Elves" and when they came into Faerun, is it during the Time of the Creator Races or whatever, also for what reason they don't Retreat to Evermeet and why they hide in their pocket plane and had they Retreated some years before the founding of Evermeet or is it simply they are too lazy to cross the distance. For it is better to have some background about them than wonder and puzzle about their origins, I usually prefer canon origins for any new FR races. And it would provide a foundation for any adventure that involve them. Also, more information is needed on the probably artificial Plane of Sildeyuir and how coterminus is it with the FR plane, for I suspect such planes are never static and maybe once every hundred years or so, there would be an alignment of the mortal plane and Sildeyuir plane. Besides that, canon information on pocket planes and how the Nilshai and external planar influences can infiltrate through into the pocket plane and the mortal plane, this would make for an interesting objective in any adventure that involves Sildeyuir. |

Posted - 18 Apr 2006 : 10:09:29 So now we have a reply from the author (Greg Vaughan) about this name conundrum and some hints as to the content of the module (set in the Unnaproachable East and involving "Elves who are not there")!
Enjoy!
The quote below is just an excerpt and I encourage you to go over to Paizo's Boards to see the full-length and very witty post from Greg.

To Bocklin in regards to the title. You don't know the half of it...literally. As far as I know there were actually four titles in the mix at one time or other.
When the assignment was given to me, it had the working title "Citadel of Glass" but allowed that I had some creative license with it. I suggested "The Midnight Tomb". They felt that to be a bit blase'. To avoid any association with the blase' (like that Pett fellow, for instance) I turned the manuscript in under "Night Realm of the Duskwalker". I never heard anything else about the title and all the contracts and payments and stuff came through as "Citadel of Glass", so I kind of assumed that would be it. Now it appears that "The Twilight Tomb" is the latest incarnation, so my money would be on that as the actual print title.
(... snip ...)
Back on topic. I probably can't say much since it has yet to be released, but I'll give you some basics and tantalizing snippets to encourage you to rush to your FLGS and preorder a copy.
It is in the Forgotten Realms, as I believe has been mentioned. It's in the Unapproachable East...sort of. It's about elves (really, what in FR isn't?) but there aren't really any in it. It ties in strongly with the rich FR lore and history and (... snip ...)

Posted - 10 Apr 2006 : 09:25:49 Richard Pett (regular Dungeon contributor and author of "Fields of Ruins" - the mini/rpg module coming out this month) has mentioned the following on the Paizo Boards:

The full post is there:

I don't know how up-to-date Richard is with WotC's publication calendar, but it sounds like it would be for this year. So we would get our "4th quarter FR product".

Maybe this is just an indication that the Portals linking FR and Earth have been found recently - by some priests of Mask perhaps....

Posted - 23 Mar 2006 : 05:35:57 Well, the reason Sons of Gruumsh was so useful was the statblocks for basic orcs. Once you have that many statblocks for basic orcs, you're pretty much set for about 25 percent of all low-level D+D games ever. :)
That was the best thing about the adventure. I'm not going to run it. I'm ahead of the timeline. But that page and a half of statblocks in the back is worth the adventure by itself. |
