It's a rather simple and silly question about Elminster and others characters like Larloch, Drizz't...

Did any of the most famous characters in the FR Novels actually were played in game sessions or were they first created for the Novel and then translated into gaming terms?

I only make this question because many think Elminster and others are so powerfull because he never went threw any gaming which I don't believe so!!! Hope I ain't wrong!

I apologize if I'm crossing over into any Copywright laws or ownership rules regarding Wizards of the Coast! Thanks ahead for any possible answers. Just the Qindahearted

They're mentioned in the introduction to the 2E adventure The Accursed Tower. Unfortunately, I don't have my D&D stuff with me in this country so I can't give you any more than that.

Not quite, but that's the funniest thing I've seen said on here in a while!

Actually I think RAS once said he tried to play as Drizzt but the DM killed him so that RAS would make a more believable character.

According to RAS he has never play Drizzt as a character, and the only character that he has ever written that he played as a D&D character was Oliver DeBurrows the Highwayhalfling from the Crimson Shadows book.

Ed used Elminster as a kind of background NPC. He would send the Knights here and there, and occasionally help them, but usually he was busy doing his own thing.

Drizzt Do'Urden was created on the spur of the moment, during a phone call, discussing the novel The Crystal Shard. If RAS ever played him, I've not heard about it. Drizzt was actually created to be Wulfgar's sidekick.
