Posted - 08 Apr 2005 : 09:04:53 Just saw this in Mat Smiths Article for Champions of Ruin
"Chapter Four explores evil organizations, providing detailed information about each one, including how to join and what you get out of it (and what it costs you.) The Realms is a big place, and scattered throughout the world of Faerūn are a number of evil places"
Now Ive seen a similar setup to what Mat Smiths describing in the Star Wars D20 game (I believe its in the Hero Guide)
Eric/Thomas are the respective Organisations sections from your to books based on the SW D20 system?

Posted - 30 Apr 2005 : 18:26:12 No, but the system is consistant with other elements of the SW d20 system, like reputation. I've tried to toy with reputation, honor and the like from Dragon Magazine and Unearthed Arcana, but it seems if the setting isn't specifically written with those rules in mind, it can be hard tacking them on.
The main reason I even tried is becaue I had a player that was used to the idea such a system from Baldur's Gate. |

Thomas
Actually, I'm rather glad that is the case.
As I recall, the few times I've used the SW system in my campaigns, my players didn't particularly enjoy it.

I told your Siruis you need to lock their cell doors when youve finished interogating the authors!
Thanks Thomas!

Thank you Thomas for clearing that matter up. |

Posted - 12 Apr 2005 : 00:40:27 As Eric has said, his contribution to the tome wasn't huge and most likely will be showcased in only a single chapter of the book. I'm even guessing that he hasn't seen much of CoR at all. Thomas has had no input to CoR as far as I'm aware, working on CoV with SKR. I'm looking forward to both books - big time.

Also if you had to many points with one group then you couldnt join another.
I've got the Hero Guide.
You're essentially right on the mark. The tome presents some setting specific details meant for the system that can alter the points garnered if DMs feel they add an unstable element to the game.
It remains to be seen whether the FR interpretation will be exactly as is though.[/quote]

That's immediately what I thought of. To my knowledge, there are not many organizations sharing members or people jumping from one organization to the other in the Realms. Even ones with the same alignment wouldn't be keen to having the same members. How can you know what specific group your member is ultimately loyal to? |

Posted - 09 Apr 2005 : 02:15:27 The SW D20 game doesnt reqally have an alignment system except for Dark side points which are really only applicable for character with levels in Jedi or are Force sensitive. The Sympathy system an attempt to give it an alignment system.

Thank you Dargoth for patiently explaining the system to me and providing the links. After looking at them, well, I'm definitely leaning your way of not being certain that this would work for the Realms. But, I'll hold off on worrying or further comment until we get some clarification.
Thanks again.

For example if you went all out with the Empire and took some of there PrCs and Feats then you wouldnt be able to join the Rebel faction (Unless you quit the empire thus loosing all Empire points)
You could hpwever play the field
You could smuggle arms to for both the empire and the Rebellion (thus having maybe 1-2 points in each) this would allow the character to get some of the feats or Prcs that had a low point requirements from both groups but they wouldnt be able to access any of the higher stuff
Im not sure how well it could work with the FR though

Thanks Dargoth and sorry for the earlier confusion. And, you seem to know this SW tome obviously more than I do. So, based on your knowledge, is this a good or bad thing if it's based on the SW system? |
