Indeed, the Tren show up as early as 1991, in the Forgotten Realms Monstrous Compendium Appendix (MC11). I was both surprised and delighted to hear that they'd be updated in Serpent Kingdoms, for no other reason than that they are an interesting monster type both native to FR and easily transported to other worlds.

Posted - 15 Jun 2004 : 00:40:24 Tren have appeared in previous Realmslore in "The Dream Spheres" (as noted above), in "Drizzt Do'Urden's Guide to the Underdark" (down around the Lake of Steam), and in one of the 2e FR compendiums, IIRC.
They are not a major part of "Serpent Kingdoms," but they do get brief mention and a monster write-up.

You have to be more descriptive when naming your threads. I thought for sure this meant Waterdeep nobles were to be described in Serpent Kingdoms. |
