Hail and well met,

I wanted to point out my article in Dungeon #208, "Elves with Demonic Designs--The Fey'ri: Faerun's Hidden Threat," which is a Realms specific article about Fey'ri.

The amusing director's commentary on this piece is that I *originally* wrote a Fey'ri article for WotC nearly four years ago when my novel featuring a fey'ri (Downshadow) hit the shelves. This is that same article, shuffled, lost, misfiled, revamped, rewritten, misplaced, found, hidden in a filing cabinet at the end of a deserted hallway marked with a sign saying "Beware of the Leopard," and finally fished out by the wise Kim Mohan and finally published this month.

I have literally written this article four times, so I'm hoping that it's a good one.

Realms lorelords might see a few familiar faces, particularly if they're familiar with Cloak and Dagger.

Cheers

Oh I have fanfiction brewing now. It is having something to do with Sheverash.....I love being....always looking to redefined evil. Is there place to post fan-fiction here?

Thanks, guys

I was sorta hoping for "canon" variants. But no great loss, I never liked elves much anyways ... fiends can breed with all sorts of less noxious species.

One of my previous revisions of the article included bloodline feats your elf or eladrin could take to be a fey'ri, as well as tips for playing one. Maybe I'll write all that up sometime for my website.

Cheers

The recipe for Fey'ri is simple.

Breed Elves, mostly Sun Elves, with Demons, mostly Succubi.

So having Fey'ri else where is possible.

On a related Note...

Wonder if Fey'ri could be a playable race in Fifth Edition or if it will be something like a background/template/whatever to add to an elf or Tiefling character.

There are variants of the idea in other settings -- RAVENLOFT and EBERRON spring immediately to mind. But, and I'm going from memory, I think Eric Boyd created the fey'ri exclusively for the Realms.

I concur. But that said, there's no reason why they couldn't exist elsewhere. You could even have a branch of them somewhere that is descended from a plane-hopping Realms-born fey'ri.

This article offers a few instances where fey'ri might be placed, and I think they make good solitary threats, particularly in their current state. A fey'ri makes a good manipulator villain or information broker, and any evil warlord would be well served to have a fey'ri as a lieutenant. And of course, there are plenty of fey'ri out in search of the legendary Last Heir.

Cheers

Congrats, Erik.

An on-again/off-again Realms fan [and work colleague] caught me reading your article at the office, and immediately became intrigued with the C&D references. As a result, I thus directed him to my spare copy of Cloak & Dagger that I have sitting in my desktop library.

Great article, Erik.

This month's Dungeon was undeniably excellent.

I second that statement...:( I would love to get my hands on that article in print form(still hope they will one day collect all the Dragon and Dungeon articles relevant to FR in one book).
Judging from Erics depiction of fey'ri in his novels it is probably pretty cool

Just wondering, if someone were to subscribe for a month only, can you download all the back issues? If not, I'd love to see a "best of FR articles" PDF available for purchase. What I've seen on the 4e FR online articles has indeed intrigued me, even though the game itself isn't to my taste.

Yes. A 1-month subscription allows you to download (and keep) ALL The issues released over the past 4+ years.

As the article makes clear, The Last Mythal series dealt the fey'ri a serious blow and scattered the survivors to the winds. They are now fractured and mostly leaderless, operating more as individuals thana collective. As for active support going forward, we'll see.

Cheers

The Fey'ri were an interesting group, although I had thought that most of them were wiped out in the Last Mythal. Are they going to be a faction with continuing support in FR next?

Wow, what a story...
