Hello

Just putting this here, Iron Liz is an RPG reviewer who has been going through many games and settings, and posts video reviews. She has entered the Channel Awesome crew (which is some geek wbesite that I go to), and I wanted to share that with you.

The content of her videos is good, objective, and seems to be the result of real research. I look forward to her next videos, and here's the introduction she did for Channel Awesome. You don't need to watch the whole thing (17 min) as she spends some time explaining what an RPG actually is.

She does mention that the Realms are her favorite setting, so I hope she'll do some review about that in the future.

No worries. I might have jumped to conclusions, a few circumstantial hints is evidence but is not definitive unless she stated so in her videos.

Despite many aspects of D&D having a long history pre-Realms, the setting basically absorbed everything good, bad, or whatever in the game (demi-human deities, drow, certain aberrations, spells, spellplague, new magic systems etc).

Here's a recent vlog from Spoony about his RPGA experience as a DM. They were playing a RPGA module, which appeared to be nominally set in the Realms (as everything probably was at the time), or at least used a Faerunian deity.

Sorry dude - didn't mean for that to come-off sarcastic or anything.

I just remember liking Corellon long before FR was a published setting, and I also read Streams of Silver before becoming an FR fan (thus making me a RAS fan before even knowing the Realms).

But I am sure she is, because how can you be a fantasy RPG fan and not like FR.

Except for those people the 4e Realms were deconstructed for, according to the official sources. Had to make those guys happy.

Because, ya know, if I built airplanes for a living, I would just ignore all the pilots and try to please the sumbmarine captains.

Sorry, couldn't help that one. Here's hoping 5e is amazing.

True.

Okay, "She may, possibly, in some remote way be a casual or at best moderate fan of the setting or at least someone who's heard of the setting via indirect references from more popular sources."

Satisfied?

Knowing about Corellon doesn't make you a 'Realms fan', just 'D&D fan'.

Knowing Drizzt 'might', but I've met a few Drizzt fans who were clueless when it came to non-RAS works.

Anyhow, thanks for the link.

This should be interesting, and she seems to know her stuff. Definitely she's in the 3rd edition camp for both D&D and the Realms.

Her answer on "how do you like 4E D&D" was pretty funny without being mean.

The only thing, the overlay music was a little too loud compared to her voice. Good music, though.

I know of Iron Liz through Linkara's reviews.

She seems like a big Realms fan now that I think about it. She has the replica scimitars of Drizzt and she mentions Corellon in one of Linkara's videos.

From the related bunch of reviewers, I believe Spoony once mentioned he likes the Realms setting, but I think his favorite setting may be Planescape. The box sets are prominently displayed on his background bookshelf in many videos.
