Mods: I'm not sure if this is the correct forum. Please feel free to move this thread as you like.
It seems unlikely that I'm going to continue playing FR in 4th Edition, and I'll be off-loading my collection on to E-Bay in the next few weeks.
I've put together a bibliography of what I own, and am putting it here. I'd like to have some ideas on whether I should sell it all-together or piece-meal it out from some folks that have experience on E-bay and different ways that I could market my auctions.

I tried to convince him not to sell. I really, really did. But since he wouldn't listen I got a Waterdeep box set. As for selling it through e-bay, the fellow who is listing it wouldn't go for individual sales I'm sure. |

FYI, all of the maps from the boxed sets are laminated. I had them all pieced together and displayed on the walls of the game room. |

Ironically, the only comics I lost in the fire were the ones I wanted to keep. I've got like 6 or 7 longboxes elsewhere that I have zero use for. The only thing keeping me from tossing them is the fact I spent a lot of money on comics back in the day, and I don't want to let them go without getting something back in return.  |

Don't forget to put "will combine shipping costs with my other auctions".
That way, people who buy one will naturally look to get a bargain by checking out the others.
My wife sold my entire comic book collection that way.
Even though she made a small fortune, it still brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. <snif> |

I agree with Wooly. I do a decent amount of ebay selling including old D&D stuff, and you will make more selling individually
I agree. In any case there may be some people who just must have a particular Item, and will pay through thier ears to get it(not that you should accept money that came from someone else's ear ) otherwise it's just a "Value Pack". |

As a buyer I much prefer that items be sold individually or in logical sets (e.g., FRA 1-3, but even then, I may have been trying to buy them one at a time and may already have one or two). Many times I have seen an item that I really want but either don't bid on because it's tossed in higgledy-piggledy with a bunch of books I already own (or am not interested in buying) OR the price goes through the roof because the seller has put together one lot with many items that many buyers want, each wanting something separately ("Hey, bid on my lot of Waterdeep Trail Map, Kara Tur Trail Map, Cloakmaster Cycle, and complete autographed set of the Double Diamonds 1-9!")

Yes, it's from 2e and it's kinda a companion book to Prayers of the Faithful. It's kinda in the same line of material as that book. |

This is what I did after college and my military service. now-a-days, I just peruse my boxes of old lore and bring things out during discussions here on these boards. Additionally, my oldest son is really starting to dig dragons He actually has just started reading the first book of the Dragon Lance chronicles. The Army moved my realms and D&D stuff around the world with me for 12 years.
Keep your stuff my friend, unless you just really have to get rid of it.

It depends on how much money you want to earn with the books and how much time you want to spend on selling these books.
Selling all books in one bundle generally reduces your time spent and the money earned. Selling them individually generally increases your time spent and the money earned. :-)
I would be interested in the books for a decent price (I've got some already), but I am living in Switzerland. :-( |

I've been thinking about it for nearly 9 months now, and I'm pretty certain that this is the right direction to go. I'm very much a utilitarian, I keep things that are useful (if only in a sentimental sense). What I've come to realize is that it is not these products that I am connected to, its the people, some of whom I've not seen in a long time. The people and the memories.
D&D game table is giving us the opportunity to re-connect, and I'm just going to take the time to go in a new direction is all. FR will always be my first love, but just as in RL, I didn't end up marrying my first love. But I'll always remember her. Same for FR. |

I agree with Victor. You should think this out carefully. I've just recently come back to D&D after a 20 year absence and I'm gaming with my kids. But I didn't keep anything so I had to repurchase it all. If your partner does not object and you have the space to store them, you might consider just moth-balling them for 10 years till your kids are ready to play. Just a thought.
