Would you buy a magazine devoted to Realmslore, in the tradition of National Geographic magazine? How about one in which other campaign settings (Oerth, Krynn, etc.) were also covered?

I would love to post one on the WotC boards, but they only allow WotC employees to past polls. And I am not active on the EnWorld boards.

EDIT: The Paizo boards might be another good place to post a poll, yet again, I am not active on their boards either.
Jamallo Kreen Posted - 18 Jan 2008 : 02:35:19
My intention of posting this poll was to see how much interest there might be in a Realms-specific magazine, and I'd say that there is some. Would someone active on the Wizards boards and Enworld please post a comparable poll (preferably with a note of discouragement against voting in more than one poll)? Who knows? If there turns out to be a significant amount of interest, Wizards may publish something Realms fans will like, rather than ringing the death knell for the Realms we know and love. However, as my idol always said, "What do I know?"

Personally I'd like to see extensive articles on the time period between the current Realms year and 1479. The deliberate (IMO) 'That was then, this is now, don't ask about how the two relate' WoTC is doing, so that 'Old time' Realms fans can't have an advantage (for lack of a better word) over the new fans they are targetting is the single thing most putting me off 4E FR. The changes, whilst not enamoured with them all I can handle, but only if I can have a clear road map linking 'my' realms to 'their' realms, so I can feel it's still mine in time.

I like the option of FR-only, but with the occasional reference to other locales that are tied heavily to FR, such as a few areas in Ravenloft, Planescape, Spelljammer.
Markustay Posted - 11 Jan 2008 : 20:36:31
I voted #2, but was feeling more along the lines of #2.5: Almost entirely FR, with occassional descriptions of other places (sort of like a series of articles about interesting regions on other planes).
Herkles Posted - 11 Jan 2008 : 20:29:06
I would like to see a FR only one, though I wouldn't mind one with other settings. IF they do make this type of magizine, i would enjoy it even more if they made the articles as if they were written by charchters in the FR or the setting they are talking about.

I voted for number four, if only because it would be nice to see Wizards give some serious love to a setting that is not the Realms or Eberron (which is not to say I still don't love the Realms, I do, but I have other loves as well).

Oh how I wish I could say, "They won't change anything". You have no idea how much I wish I could say that.

I voted for the second option ...i do not care about other campaigns

I thank those of you have responded so far; please encourage others to answer the poll, too.

I bitch and moan so much about Hasbro that I thought I should offer an idea which might be a Good Thing for D&D, and the Realms in particular.

(Of course, if they ever decide to publish anything like a Realms Geographic, I hope that I'll be allowed to contribute to it! Gods know that there are a LOT of talented people here who know -- or can invent -- a LOT of new material consistent with extant Realmslore.)

Realms only, and only pre-Spellplague too...

This is how I feel as well.

As long as it deals with the Realms only...
Alisttair Posted - 04 Dec 2007 : 13:37:55
Obviously I would prefer one FR only but I woud take whatever contains FR in it :)
Jorkens Posted - 03 Dec 2007 : 22:19:40
Yes I think I would buy this, Known World, Spelljammer, Dragonlance and Grayhawk material would only sweeten things.
Chosen of Moradin Posted - 03 Dec 2007 : 20:17:30
I vote for the third option, because some magazine of the "multiverse" of D&D will be really interesting: it could cover the planar facts (Planescape), give us registers of the regents (Birthright), talk about the commerce flux of Sembia (Realms), introduce some kender anedoctes, etc.

Interesting idea.

That's what I would prefer, but from a commercial standpoint, Wizards might be more amenable to a multi-setting magazine than one confined to a single setting, unless there was an overwhelming response in favor of a one setting magazine.
