I had largely given up hope that an actual OGL would come out for D&D, and I was not expected a limited license to release Forgotten Realms content.
While the degree to which a lot of people will fully utilize the setting is going to vary, this could be a great creative outlet for those folks that really want to get what's in their head out there into the hands of other people. |

Posted - 17 Jan 2016 : 08:17:05 I've mixed feelings about the news honestly. What I'm afraid of happening is if/when WotC decides to go a different route with D&D it's going to create yet another backlash and edition war. Not to mention that we'll now be getting a large amount of 3pp/fan-based options that often are often exceedingly bad or overpowered if the amount of dearth of 3.5 is any indication. Even a system as beloved and vaunted as Pathfinder didn't really fix any of the multitude of systemic problems that they inherented from 3e.
On the other hand 5e is a far easier system wth a more straightforward ruleset that would show up flagrant mechanical issues and under- or overpowered material. So maybe it won't be an issue |

Posted - 17 Jan 2016 : 06:20:38 So, I put something up on the DM's Guild site.
http://www.dmsguild.com/product/171262/Folk-of-Legend?src=newest_in_dmg
I'm not putting it up to shill for it (although I'm totally fine with people buying it). Mainly I wanted to walk through what it would take to publish something.
There are resources on the site, although they are scattered all over the place. I used some of the art the provided, but I didn't end up using the templates, since those seem to be mainly for formatting adventures in a manner similar to the Adventurers Guild adventures.
It was a fairly painless process to get it up and running on the site. |

I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

Posted - 13 Jan 2016 : 03:55:47 Well... I guess I need to start working on turning my Campaign Notes into something more useful. No idea how to start... but I've got a tiny bit of motivation now. |

Wow, that DM's Guild stuff is huge. I'm more than a little tempted to go that route for a couple of my own projects... Sadly, though, my projects are pretty much rules-agnostic, pure lore.
I'm thinking that they may be open to rule-less projects, just no projects with rules outside 5E. Either way, check out Reddit tomorrow:

Mike Mearls is also available for interviews upon request.
I hope they'll publish that somewhere, once it's done... Since they changed the web filters at work, putting them at a higher level than they were previously, I can't get to certain things without using my phone (not connected to a work network) or my tablet and VPN. And the timing is problematic for my work, as well. |

Posted - 12 Jan 2016 : 19:31:17 I would hope in theory, that rules-light with great lore books could be published. This has me really excited. Hope to hear Ed's thoughts on it. |
