I don't know. I'll be honest, while I enjoyed the book, I had a hard time seeing so many of Vhearaun's followers converting to Eilistraee, even if their god's dying wish was to "get Lolth." The tension that they showed between the males and entering a matriarchal structure again, while interesting, just kind of reminded me how strange it would be for them to accept this structure.
Remember, not all of them jumped to Eilistraee. The majority of the Vhaerunites in Shaamath converted to Shar and killed those who didn't. |

I was also a little disappointed with Wendonai. I was expecting a more dynamic villain rather than a more, well, stereotypical demonic portrayal. I was kind of hoping that a balor like Wendonai, that was probably fairly close to being a demon lord, would have his own plans and perhaps a little more of his own agenda, especially since he seemed, according to other sources, to have parted ways with Lolth.
I enjoyed the book, but there were a few speed bumps along the way. |

Posted - 06 Sep 2007 : 23:46:37 I am greatly enjoying the friction in the party between the Nightshadows and the Protectors. Very well thought out, it would have been so easy to just have them all agree to "get along for the greater good", but much more believable the way Lisa has presented it. Especially good is Karas' mistrust of half of his own Nightshadows. Only thing that made me cring was Cavatina being stupid enough to go after what she thought was Halistra. Very stupid for such an experienced Darknight. But, it gives a nice insight into her character that her emotions totally blocked her mind from sticking to the mission.
P.S. Creepy and almost nauseating description of the Balor and his actions.
Ewwwwww.........
Good writing Lisa. |
