I was thinking about a part from chase the dark yesterday and burst of laughing. Funniest part in the entire story is when he's mocking the silent fellow and the cleric thought it was gonna come to blows but he just makes a rude gesture. I doubled over the first time I read that.
Hehe, thanks, Stout Heart. I enjoyed that part myself. |

...And I totally just misread the title of this thread. I thought it said "Chase the Dork". I need to get to bed, thinks I.
Methinks the filter between your thoughts and your fingertips is clogged again!
Heh. It's been a long and busy week... When I made that comment last night, it was after getting home from my bachelor party. And I'm getting married tomorrow, so this has been an interesting week! |

LOL...oh my, that's going to be with me for the rest of the day. Maybe a sequel is in order...
I know it's now going to be among the first things I remember when I recall this particular tale.
Thanks Wooly. |

Posted - 04 Sep 2008 : 22:06:57 The ending upset me I really allowed my self to get into the story. The ending creeps up on you and he goes or it could all be a load of piss and it just shattered my entire mood lol I wanted to punch him in the face. But all in all it was a good story. |

Posted - 20 Aug 2008 : 06:44:38 I'm with Red on this one. Between the "two new girls" I often cannot choose. Both wrote excellent The Dungeons novels, and here again, Jaleigh surprised me with this little gem.
Gerond was nicely evil, as much a Cyricist as I would expect. Dev was complex, yet his fear always seems to be his Achilles' heel. The redemption he sought was not in the general sense, but from his erstwhile scouting/sentry companion, and now general (I forget her name). The sniping, while supposed to be quiet, I think was part of the deal. Gerond wanted his comrades “in the field” to know of their progress, while it would create even more fear in Dev about discovery due to the noise level.
I hope we do see more of sorcerer Dev in future. |

Posted - 07 Feb 2008 : 01:17:52 I enjoyed this story because I found it to be overall suspenseful and surprising. I liked how Gerond turned out to be a priest of Cyric, although before that was revealed I was wondering what god he was serving (he doesn't mention who, he just gives the impression of being benevolent).
One thing, though...Gerond and Dev did an awful lot of sniping at each other when they were supposed to be quiet. |

Posted - 03 Feb 2008 : 17:47:17 This story wasn't really to my taste. For me Dev was too complex a character to make sense of. I'm not sure why an outcast with such a defiant personality would want to die to redeem himself in the eye of the same folks that threw him out. I don't know how Dev knew that Resch was summoning up the strength to tackle Gerond. I understand that Devlen trusted Resch would come through for him, but I got no sense that there was a such a level of unspoken understanding between the two men. I think this story was a bit too subtle for me to understand easily |

Dev is such an interesing character. Not your typical "hero".
It was very satisfying when he was fooled into thinking he was running just another decoy mission, only to have the real deal fall into his lap!
Can't wait to see what Jaleigh is writting next! |
