Well met all. I need some help from those better versed with Eberron. Does anyone know if there are any spells that create or summon undying from that setting.
While I know most of the integration of undying has been in Eberron, the concept first showed up in the Book of Exalted Deeds, and I was thinking of looking for any spells or the like that might allow good aligned faiths or the like to have some of these beings in place.

Yeah, I agree there, if black necromancy is necromancy... why is white necromancy conjuration? If one summons positive energy to heal, wouldn't summoning negative energy also be conjuration... so assuming its not since we have a necromantic school, shouldn't healing spells still be necromancy. People try to get too PC. |

Guess that's what I get for looking in Magic of Eberron and the later supplements. I know I looked through the ECS before, but obviously not when I was looking for this information . . . thanks Chyron.
Actually, I'd probably avoid elves if only because deathless are associated with elves in Eberron. What really got me interested in this is my friend, who was playing a cleric of Helm, who wondered about Helmites that were willing to serve as guardians even after death.
Oh, I've kind of wondered if Baelnorn and Archliches were given a 3.5 update if they would end up as Deathless instead of undead. |

Hi KEJ,
The Eberron Campaign Setting does feature such spells. There are several new Cleric domains due to the new mythos. One such domain is that called The Deathless Domain and is granted to those that serve the Undying Court (not gods but actually those Elves who have moved into Deathless Status. There are two spells of this domain which act as the funtions you are inquiring about;
as to creation there are
Level 6 Create Deathless Spell (for creation of Undying Soldiers)
Level 8 Create Greater Deathless (for creation of Undying Councilors) - [listed on page 105 ECS]
as to summoning I don't knowof any offhand, but I need to rexamine some of the supplemental books.
I find the Undying interesting anomolies (positive engergy undead) and remind me of the Baelnorn in some ways.
I think you could possibley import the Deathless domain to the realms under one of the Elven deities...perhaps Labelas Enorath (time/longetivity). |

I've looked through a few of the spells in the Eberron books at the bookstore and the FLGS, and I hadn't found anything. That's kind of odd to me, because you would think if these guys were supposed to be the "good" answer to undead, there would be some spells for good aligned casters to use to make them more prominent.
Then again, I've not seen many undying outlined yet either. Maybe the forthcoming MM V will have some interesting ones in it. |

Well, if the process by which the Aerenal elves' revered ancestors persist beyond death has been outlined, I don't know of it, but the domains associated with the Undying Court are those of Deathless, Good, and Protection, for what it's worth :) |

Well, I was mainly asking so as to use the "general" undying in a Forgotten Realms setting, since there are some non setting specific ones in the Book of Exalted deeds, and I was just wondering about such. Either way, if anyone wants to move this to the D&D Core section, makes no difference to me. |

I think the question belongs elsewhere, but not for me to decide.
IIRC there is a more General D&D foroum maintained, it was at least maintained a few years ago. |
