Ok here it is, i am possibly going to update to 3E! I may just do this if i get a second campaign going. If i was to update would you recommend wait off until 3.5 came out or not? Also what im not sure about is are all the 3E books '3.5 proff' i.e. can i buy them and use them with the 3.5 Rules. In addition to this if i was to update what should i get? (plz remeber im still at skool so money is tight)

Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

You aren't the only one with this attitude, Yasraena. I feel much the same although my players are now encouraging me to change to 3E and I have incorporated some aspects of 3E into my current games.

As for 3.5? It sounds to me like a money making scam! Hasbro have recently been fined an awful lot of money in the British courts for price fixing and I suppose they have to pay for it somehow. I can tell you one person who definately will not be buying the new books.

IMO, WOC just should have just left well enough alone. 3E has got to be one of the biggest waste of times I have ever read. There are some things that have potential to be good additions, (Feats come first to mind) but the majority of it is just too hack and slash to me. My main problem is that 3E gives WAY too much to a beginning PC. Where's the struggle to get these abilities? Where's the challenge? Just because you're a particular class or race means you just get them? Yeah, THAT makes sense.

Thank you all for your help, i shall wait until 3.5 comes out. Any one have any idea how much it will cost.
In addition to this what else is essential other than:
1)The DM Guide
2)The players Handbook
3)The Monster Manual
4)Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting
Bear in mind that this campaign of mine will be set in Baldur's Gate. Oh and i forgot i do have a copy of The players Handbook for 3E It LOOKS much better, the combat system is differant, abit more simple i think (But the amount of information on the character sheets seems to put people off). I can warn you all that if it wasn't for this Handbook i would still be trying to play JUST 2nd Edition. (On the other hand i will still be playing 2nd Edition with another 2 groups )

Thanks, folks....

How do we feel about this new change?

ah, so my beloved DM still lives. Good to see you alive and well.
I understand your point and its well taken. I just happen to know alot of 'ruley' people that I play with. This was not an attack on you or your gaming style, but it bites when I'm trying to work with a 'ruley' DM.

Ehm... half-elven vision is still similar to elven vision in 3e Kitira as it was in 2nd edition. It is just no longer called 'infravision'...

And rangers still get animal companions... with the right feats and skills (just of the top of my head). Besides, DM's are often open to these things, especially when it comes more to role-playing rather then rule-playing

I think you should get the Player's Guide. That's really a good start if you don't have any previous experience with creating characters. I was in the same position a few months ago, but I bought Faiths & Pantheons. However, once I got my *new* stash of 2e books and took a look at the DM and Player guides, I really got a good [read: much needed] eye opener. Enjoy!

Q: Is anything being done to half-orcs and half-elves?

A: Many of the races in the Player's Handbook received minor changes, but both half-orcs and half-elves are extremely popular as PCs. If we changed them significantly (particularly the half-orc, which is a very powerful and popular PC race) we would do a disservice to fans of those races and the revision.

IM not so HO, they already did a 'disservice to fans' when they changed half-elven infravision to "low light" vision. Many other players that I know loved half-elves since they had that ability, even if it was more limited than a normal elf.

I'd also like to see them leave the druid and ranger classes alone- (I think that the ranger should have the follower, not the druid. One of the other things they shouldn't have changed from 2e!)::sigh::

Allegedly the biggest 'rules' impact will be for the Ranger and Druid class. Probably making them a little more 'customizable'...

If you can wait for the books to come out... yeah, probably that's the best thing to do. If not, then there should be nothing to stop you from converting. The changes in 3.5 are not very drastic and will not alter existing campaigns uch, if at all... according to WotC.

I'd suggest that you wait for the 3.5E. So you'll be able to read them both to see what's the best. Furthermore, 3.5E won't be a revolution so any 3E module will be usable with.
