I just wonder if its a one shot adventure, a one shot campaign setting (like Ghostwalk), or actually the begining of a new campaign setting. And most importantly (within these hallowed halls), will all the former Realmsian Darklords actually be mentioned as such again? Or mentioned at all?
It could also be possible that this is just an updated version of the original I6: Ravenloft module which was published in 1983 and its sequel, I10: The House on Gryphon Hill published in 1986.
As for the Realmsian Darklords... I'm not too sure. White Wolf certainly divorced the Realms connection to RL races, locales, and the several Darklords and prominent NPCs... But if this new tome ignores all that for the most part, we may see some focus return to Ravenloft as it was in 2e with suitable Realms tie-ins like we remember and brought into 3e.
If that's the case... I'll put my gold pieces aside just as soon as it is confirmed.

Posted - 19 Jan 2006 : 05:32:10 Aye... I'd already heard about the Castle Ravenloft tome from the Fraternity of Shadows forum.
I'm uncertain what to make of it though... given 3e RL less-than-stellar record in 3e.

Posted - 19 Jan 2006 : 05:25:45 What it might also be is an expansion to all the various optional magical subsystems introduced over the past while(incarnum, the forthcoming stuff in the Tome of Magic, warlocks)... |

Posted - 19 Jan 2006 : 05:20:16 Yeah, of all "types" of characters, arcane casters have tons of things you can do with them, from feats, spells, and "Gasp" even PrCs. While I normally don't like too many PrCs, when you come up with good "themes" to spellcasting, I think PrCs here are worth it. |

Complete Mage after Complete Arcane ????
One of the book's designers posted on the wizards.com boards that it is designed to be a supplementary book to CA. Personally, I can't wait for it-arcane magic has a lot more design space, and a lot of things that could do with updates. |
