Posted - 22 Aug 2012 : 21:49:57 Just figured I'd share this for peeps if they've ever been interested in getting a lot of minis. Reaper's doing a kickstarter to fund making plastic molds for a lot of the minis that they've done over the last 20 years in metal (apparently making molds for plastic minis costs more than making them for metal minis, but the end product is a lot cheaper.... so rather than taking 5-10 years to earn up the revenue they're funding a kickstarter). Granted, they're plastic and unpainted, but hell you're getting somewhere between 150 -200 minis for $100.

Maybe I can stretch the September budget then. Hmmm. More number-crunching. |

Posted - 26 Aug 2012 : 04:07:24 I think a backer could have pledged at one of the lowest tiers and then use their survey link (to be composed and sent out at a later date) to place add-ons into their order, payment through PayPal. Via this method, one could mostly pick up a handful of minis, the sculpts one really wants for prices less than retail. Big Kickstarters like these usually are very flexible as long as a backer gets their foot in the door.
Either way, with the mass horde of minis many of the backers are getting. I wouldn't be surprised if after these shipped a few ended up on the usual auction sites for not much coin. Not everyone wants every mini from their backer tier. |

I'd love to take advantage of this new initiative. But shipping miniatures from the US can be expensive, and since this is Kickstarter-based, it's hard for me to determine just how that shipping might work.
Well, if you are patient and coming to GenCon next year as planeed your welocme to ship them to me and I will place them in your hands next August. I'd hate to see you miss out!
Hmmm. That's a good point. And I suppose if my new initiative to head to Gen Con 2013 fails somewhere along the line between now and next August, I can still recompense your effort to ship them here to me direct.
I'll need to cogitate on this.
Well friend, don't take this the wrong way....but if you ruminate on this in SageTime, the kickstarter will be over
I'm glad to do whateverr helps you out, I didn't read the shipping details, but if they are doing $25 international shipping.....it would be almost impossible for a single package to you at a price anywhere near that low.
Unfortunately, I couldn't take advantage of this deal. After some serious number crunching early yesterday morning, I just couldn't find a way to stretch August's budget that far.
Ah, I just got home from a family dinner. If I had read this in time I would have picked them up for you anyways. Im not a mini collector, but they sure threw in a ton of neat stuff. |

they could ship these to the moon and the cost per mini is still low |

Posted - 25 Aug 2012 : 16:35:21 Not that I'm complaining, but I had high expectations for the 3M goal. Turns out it is an ebook from shotgun & sorcery. I hoped from a dragon figurine or something...
It is currently the 4th most successful kickstarter yet, and I'm glad I was part of it! |

LOL, he's correct. Only 20 hours to go until the offer is over. And yeah, the international shipping for vampire level (over 200 minis) is just $25. The last stretch goal is a bit of a killer and I'm wondering if they'll make it (its an additional 400,000 past the last one... but they're already only 120,000 into that). I do like the necros they're offering though. |

Posted - 25 Aug 2012 : 02:30:32 The tiers have international shipping list. For instance, at the $100 "Vampire" tier, it says add $25 for shipping to all countries other than the USA and Canada. The cost is usually around $5.00 additional for lower tiers. |

not d30, it's cause of the dude Lebowski dices
Thanks sleyvas for the art of Brom, could have missed that. Even more exciting than the art of Wayne Reynolds that's coming out.
Another project worth a look is Numenera by Monte Cook. |

They have now over 2.2M$ promised, it is one of the most succesful kickstarter of all time (and it is not over)! Not bad for an initial goal of 30k.
Very good find, thanks for the tip
no problem. Hey, by the way, I was intrigued to see what kickstarters reaper had funded(it says they funded 9 of them). One of them is for an Art of Brom kickstarter to make a 224 page book of Brom's artwork. I figured that could be worth it. Another they funded that I just thought "hey, what the heck" was a guy that wants to make d14's and d18's. That one was cheap enough that I figured, heck can't hurt and why not have those dice. Links to both are below.

Yeah, its over 200 minis now. That's 50 cents a piece. They're frigging tearing through their end goals now and more stuff is getting added for free. I figure in a couple hours they'll pass their 43rd stretch goal and we'll get a free griffon and owlbear too. I'm actually wondering now what's next. Plus, some of the options are nice too. I mean $25 for a padded case that holds 100 minis is nice. The big minis you can add as extras are really nice too. I like the demons and the various dragons (can't wait to see the real version of that undead dragon Nethyrmaul, and the pathfinder red dragon and the spider centaurs look real good too). |

If you get just the base vampire level (the $100 that gets like 150-200 minis), the shipping is just $25 internationally. Their videos kind of go over the international stuff, but I didn't pay close attention because it didn't apply, but that piece I caught. |

Posted - 23 Aug 2012 : 00:12:01 If I was into minis, I'd jump on this... But I'm not. I'm an oddity, amongst those gamers that play miniature-based games: I don't have any interest in painting or assembling the minis, I just want them on the table as dice are rolling!
Luckily, I've a friend who is a big fan of painting minis. And I know he's going for this. |

Thanks for posting the link, Sleyvas - I wish I had thought to do it. |

Posted - 22 Aug 2012 : 21:52:28 Oh, and just to be clear, I have no affiliation to the company. I just figured there may be some folks here who hadn't heard, and this is definitely a group that would enjoy fantasy miniatures. Forgive that its not really realms related please. |
