Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 19:34:41 What are your favorites, I mean in DnD generally and Forgotten Realms. I was looking at the Dragon Magazine's list, having played I6 and several from Al Qadim, I wonder why they forgot the Ruined Kingdoms. |

Posted - 17 Oct 2010 : 20:23:38 I would vote Ruins of Adventure as an ongoing mini-campaign setting - although it was really meant more as a afterthought/supplement for the computer game than as a properly playable module, so the DM needs to put a lot of work into fleshing it out and constant on-the-spot fixes to really make it work. Playing the computer version might help.
Some of my hand-picked faves, terrible little flaws and all, were UK2/The Sentinel and UK3/The Gauntlet, I7/Baltron's Beacon, and R3/Egg of the Phoenix.
Some of the most famous modules might arguably be the A Series (Slavers), H Series (Bloodstone), I6/Ravenloft, and S1/Tomb of Horrors - but although I found most of them entertaining enough I wouldn't call them favourites. |

Posted - 17 Oct 2010 : 14:52:26 Certainly the Slavelords was the favorite of my players. Set in the Realms against a backdrop of pirates ravaging Sembia, intrigue in the coastal cities ofthe Vast, and ending in a monster-ridden and 3/4th's destroyed Turmish. The campaign lasted nearly two years (real time) and is still talked about now - almost 6 years later.
Like Jorkens, I also have a strong fondness for B10 (both as a player and a DM). I'd also cast a vote for the iconic Dark Tower, published by Judges Guild - which also works supprising well in the 3E era Realms. |

Posted - 16 Oct 2010 : 12:00:09 I'm with Ionik Knight on this; Against the Giants and the whole Descent into the Depths series for me! Although, looking back, perhaps it is merely a certain nostalgia for a chilled out moment in my life when I was younger and things were simpler... |

Posted - 15 Oct 2010 : 17:57:06 I spent so much time wracking my brain on my all-time favourites (not the best, my favourites) that I had to dig deep to get this scroll back. I found that my favourite modules had one thing in common: it was not the adventure, as written, although each element got played most of the time, but the fact that I could hook so much onto them:
* I12-Egg of the Phoenix: a bit silly with the names in some spots (Gorchabev, anyone?), but it had some features that returned in The Savage Frontier - I liked this one, because it's a classic setup: evil guys versus good guys, and plenty of room to drop in other stuff (just replace the other stuff's bad guys by the minions of Krelokk the Tangg-Lord, and ye're done). * I3-5-Desert of Desolation: I think I added just about every desert-locale adventure I ever came across onto one of the performances of this one. * N5-Under Illefarn: The adventures were so-so, but it got me hooked on Daggerford, the Sword Coast, and Dragonspear Castle (which, by the way, ultimately contained every element from most mega-dungeons I've come across, except Undermountain). * The Night Below campaign: every underdark-related loose module or Dungeon magazine adventure has been hooked up to this one, at one point or the other, and then some... |

Posted - 14 Oct 2010 : 16:23:21 My favorite Dungeon Magazine adventure: The Door From Everywhere in issue #88. It's a 3E adventure with ancient Netherese secrets, takes place in Cormyr and has plenty of portals. What's not to love? I ran it for my 3E Realms Campaign and had a blast since it lets you incorporate a bunch of side-adventures into it.
One of my favorite published 2E adventures is Curse of the Azure Bonds. Another is Ruins of Adventure. First Paladin I ever ran ended up dying in that one. |

Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 16:02:42 I have the Return to Castle Ravenloft adventure for 3.5 and that looks like it'd be really fun to run through.
Also, I really enjoyed the AP called Rise of the Runelords for Paizo/Pathfinder (we're currently on Chapter 3: Hook Mountain Massacre) |

Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 15:30:03 Against the Giants for generic/Greyhawk adventure. The Desert of Desolation series for Forgotten Realms adventure. And the original Ravenloft for best horror. |

Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 09:50:22 Ruins of Adventure, Temple, Tower, & Tomb, Scourge of the Slavelords, the Volo series (modified), too many others to mention... |

Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 09:38:52 I'm not a fan of published adventures, played just a few, only recently when we started working they save a lot of time
played the beginning of the Shackled City AP, that ended in a disaster Rod of the Seven Parts was decent, it had an interesting story playing the first two parts of Paizo's Curse of the Crimson Throne, currently my favourite played the Tales from the Infinite Staircase (Planescape), pretty good Wyrmskull Throne and a few minor ones not worth mentioning
I ran the Marco Volo adventures, the worst partially the Faction War (Planescape), superb heavily modified Ruined Kingdoms, pretty good running the first two parts of Paizo's Rise of the Runelords, they're superb in the beginning, but I'll just skip right to the sixth part eventually the first part of Paizo's Legacy of Fire is good, maybe we'll continue, but I dislike that it's so combat oriented Paizo's Council of Thieves, though I kicked out the drama-adventure (simply doesn't work in another language), the hag in the end, and completely changed the hellish parts, overall it turned out very good
I read the rest of Paizo's APs, the Kingmaker seems excellent, the other with the drow is not for my tastes, the Sandpoint and the elven parts have potential |

Posted - 12 Oct 2010 : 02:35:37 Well, Temple of Elemental Evil series is my favorite I think; though it does have its pitfalls...especially when trying to use it in the Realms.
I really do like the Ruins of Adventure Module...but I never got to play in it.
I like the Daggerdale series too...probably one of my favorites in the Forgotten Realms. |

Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 19:53:16 Quite honestly, most of the Realms adventures, and 2nd edition adventures in general, weren't that good. The Al Quadim adventures were exceptions, especially Ruined Kingdoms, Dozen and One Adventures and Cities of Bone.
Its difficult to find one favourite among all the ones published through the history of the game (lucily for me I can limit myself to the TSR era), but B10 Nights Dark Terror would probably be my 1st choice. I11 Needle is another favourite, but that one is rather silly in places to. Uk1 Sinister Secrets of Saltmarsh, X1 Island of Dread and I1 Dwellers of the Forgotten City deserves honourable mention also. This list may of course change at a later date, but that would be my choices tonight. |

Posted - 11 Oct 2010 : 19:51:15 I really enjoyed Cormyr: Tearing of the Weave. Sure, there are tons of Typos and mechanical errors regarding the monsters but if you look up the fixes, it's a very fun adventure to run through.
