Posted - 09 Sep 2010 : 22:39:51 [Dusts off podium] I've been officially a scribe since 2007, though I had lurked the halls much longer. After a stack of research delving in the cold, musty stacks of Norman, Oklahoma's research library, and a polite query letter to the esteemed Kobold-in-Chief Mr. Wolfgang Baur, I've learned that an article I submitted back in August is due to be included in the Fall 2010 issue of Kobold Quarterly (#15 for those keeping score).
It's sadly not Realmsian*, but covers a new swath of weaponry pulled from the history books (and mostly forgotten by roleplaying games), with brief notes on each weapon's history, a tasty dollop of fluff of how to use it in one's own game, and (tentative the blessings of Paizo), where one might find such weapons in Golarion. I'm certainly looking forward to it, and I hope my fellow scribes will be able to get something useful out of it.
*Though, many of these weapons were field-tested in my group's Faerūn games. |

I'm also curious to see which weapons you chose. Is ther any way to just get a list of the weapoms included in the article to wet our appetites? If not, I understand.
Since the article crunch is Open Game Content, sure! -Cinquedea -Estoc (a.k.a. tuck) -Hurlbat (a.k.a. whirlbat) -Khanda -Partisan (a.k.a. partizan; the polearm, not the guerrilla) -Sidesword (a.k.a. "spada da lato", "cut-and-thrust" sword) -Smallsword (a.k.a. dress sword, court sword) -Stiletto (a.k.a. misericorde) -Trump (a rather obscure flamethrower-on-a-stick) -Tulwar (a.k.a. pulwar, talwar)
I did have a couple others, originally, but the Pathfinder Advanced Player's Guide appeared with them in it between the time of my submission and the editing/publishing date. Wish I had had more space to expound and clarify, but there was room for fluff on how the above weapons fit in Golarion, and with the Golem's nod of approval for said inclusion, that makes them effectively semi-canon. |

And...the article is live! KQ Store PDF link.
PDF subscribers should be getting access about now, while it's not doubt still in the mail for the dead tree edition.
The published title is "Blades from the Past: 10 Weapons from the History Books", on page 47. It even gets a fairly big shout-out on the front cover.
Looks like I'll have to download it when I get home. Can't wait. |
