In my high level campaign we have a Druid 9/Talontar Blightlord 10. At level 10 her creature type changes to "plant", and it says in the Monster Manual that plants are immune to polymorph.
My question is, would that also make her unable to Wildshape and use the Shapechange spell? Both of those have effects similar to Polymorph, but are technically different, and it seems like it would be unfair of me to take away a significant benefit of her druid levels and also block the use of a level 9 spell. It begs the question if they would really design a prestige class that retards one of your base class' abilities.

Well, Raith, I'm dealing with the same thing, tho I'm running the Blightlords as the bad guys in my Damarran campaign. I'm not allowing them to Wildshape or use Shapechange IMG- then again, 'Immune to Polymorph' doesn't really have anything to do with wildshape, as wildshape isn't a polymorph effect. IMO, it matters little, since most of the Blightlords I'm using have more BlL levels than Drd levels- meaning that they can't change into anything very worthwhile, anyway, so no big- especially since I don't use natural spell.
Edit: On further consideration, there's no reason to not allow them to Wildshape or to shapechange: The Sharn and Phaerimm have, in their MM write-ups have the Archtypal shape, and it makes the point that not only can they not be shapechanged, but cannot shapechange themselves- This would seem to imply that those creatures that are immune to polymorph can shapechange of their own volition. |

I'd say that they can still freely use their class abilities -- but that they still get the benefits of the plant subtype. So the person could use her own abilities to wildshape, but someone trying to force her into another shape wouldn't be able to. |
