Posted - 23 Jun 2008 : 04:06:48 How do DMs here rate the Fantastic Locations series against the random encounter chart packaged with the FR DM's screen? For example, if you are running an adventure in the Fields of the Dead is Fields of Ruin useful in your campaign, or do you prefer to use the random encounter chart and the "in the Forgotten Realms" section of the MM entries for random beasties?

Posted - 02 Jul 2008 : 07:22:19 That's handy to know. I haven't seen any of the "maps," but if they are primarily room diagrams or small outdoor areas, the value of the things plummet in my estimation, at least for Realmsplay.

Posted - 29 Jun 2008 : 16:03:14 The problem with the Fantastic Locations series is that too few of the maps have replay value. I like a couple of them, and have them all, but they're not the sort of thing I would use again and again.
Also, I profoundly dislike a lot of the Minis-related things that appear on the maps including the unfinished rooms but also the magic circles etc.... |
