Well met all,

After a 20+ year hiatus, I've returned to the Realms in all it's glory. Any suggestions for intoducing my two oldest daughters (9 and 6)? We currently play D&D Miniatures and they love it! But I would like to channel them to something a little more substantial and also rekindle my passion for the Realms.

Thanks in advance ,

Bob

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

Well met

Welcome to Candlekeep, bobwriggins.

Twenty years eh? My oh my, however did ye cope?

Well feel free to take a look around, for there are many tomes and scrolls of Realmslore herein to help ye catch up with those missing years.

Enjoy thy stay.

Greetings to you bobwriggins, and welcome to Candlekeep.

Here you will find many curious questions pertaining to the Realmslore. You will also discover many fantastic answers -- some of which have even been provided by the Great Sages themselves.

So please, take a look around. If you feel the need to ask a question, simply find the appropriately place in the library and open a scroll. One of our many knowledgeable scribes will be happy to assist you in learning more about the Realms.

It's times like this that I really wish there were a series of FR "Young Reader" novels like there are for the DRAGONLANCE setting... They'd make perfect introductions for younger D&D fans to the Realms.

As it is though... I would recommend you start small... expanding on what they already know about D&D and adding some Realms flavor to it. Introduce them to parts of the fiction (especially your eldest daughter) and maybe find what type of creatures they like to read about. Since they're already familiar with D&D minis, they likely known and can identify certain critters and types of characters... some of which they may be intrigued to learn more about. Find what they enjoy and build you're Realms introduction around that.

Oh, and see you in the library .
