Posted - 18 Dec 2005 : 04:27:27 Hi, there, I'm Astrid! I've heard alot about this place from my DM (He's probably around here somewhere). I've only been gaming for about seven to nine months, but I love it already! So far, though, all I've been able to play is the Forgotten Realms campaign settings, though I'm interested in Ravenloft, Dragonlance, and Rokugan. I'm a bit of a chicken to DM just yet, though... I also have some questions about Cormyr, as I'm getting ready to play a character from Suzail. The campaign is going to be set in the Sea of Fallen Stars. Does anybody know a good place here for that? Thanks! |

Posted - 22 Dec 2005 : 02:25:42 Ah, forgive our lateness in Welcoming you to the keep (Work and what not)But welcome to the keep all the same. You will find all answers you seek somewhere within these walls (whether they are written or floating around various well known sages' noggins). Also, if you bring your own abstract theories many many welcomes indeed , if not, well, your still welcome here, but we could use an ally in insanity. Mwa ha ha ha ha!
Anyways, Welcome to The Keep. |

I see my fellow scribes have made thee feel quite welcome and shown ye around part of the library already. There are many tomes and scrolls of lore to aid ye in thy task of sending adventurers around the Realms and thou art sure to find much knowledge herein.
If I can be of any assistance, please just holler (just not too loud, this is a library, afterall ) |

Welcome to the keep butterlyght, I hope the robes don't itch too badly, you'll get used to them.
And shame on the Wooly One and the Sage for not mentioning Cormyr: A Novel (and the two books following it, collectively known as The Cormyr Saga or The Cormyr Trilogy) or Queen of the Depths.
Hey, it's late, and I have a trip to Orlando in the morning to prepare for (and aybe a quick game of BTech -- Cauldron-Born vs Cauldron-Born)!
Actually, I have an odd blindspot towards novels, when people ask for info. I tend to go straight to the sourcebooks, and not even think of novels... |

You can only blame Wooly for that Kaje -- as he specifically listed references .
Besides... I was overwhelmed by his "Wooly-ness" .

Posted - 18 Dec 2005 : 05:14:25 I'm actually working on Death of the Dragon right now; so far Cormyr: A Novel has been my favorite. Hmmm... Queen of the Depths, huh? I may have to check it out, thank you! Yes, the robes itch. I prefer my combat gear. |

Sorry about that, I tend to get lost (this place is HUGE). Actually, it's a few basic questions abut how I can make my character fit in without disturbing the canon too much (my character may or may not be a high-ranking Suzailan noble), and Cormyrian names. I'd feel kind of silly bothering them with that-- almost like they'd go "What the heck are you doing to our work?"
I wouldn't worry too much about that...
Most of the authors and designers here love hearing about the ways in which we pick and pull at the various strands of Realmslore -- putting them together in new and interesting ways. Just pose your questions... they may just surprise you with a few ideas of their own .

Posted - 18 Dec 2005 : 04:53:42 Ok. I'll probably head to the Library to ask (as one of the mods suggested). I already got Volo's Guide to Cormyr... just have to read it Thank you! |

Posted - 18 Dec 2005 : 04:44:05 Welcome to Candlekeep!
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
Cormyr and the Sea of Fallen Stars... In 2E, there were supplements for both of these regions -- and they were named for them, of course.
Another excellent Cormyr resource from 2E was Volo's Guide to Cormyr. That one is available for free from the Wizards downloads page. |

Posted - 18 Dec 2005 : 04:39:50 Greetings to you butterflyght, and welcome to Candlekeep.
Here you will find many curious questions pertaining to the Realmslore. You will also discover many fantastic answers -- some of which have even been provided by the Great Sages themselves.
So please, take a look around. If you feel the need to ask a question, simply find the appropriately place in the library and open a scroll. One of our many knowledgeable scribes will be happy to assist you in learning more about the Realms.
See you in the library .
