Hello!

I've been a DM in the Forgotten Realms since its inception, and even before that, back in the late 70's, in Greyhawk. Over the years I've seen a lot of changes in RPG, and after a hiatus am now DM'ing a group online in the FR again. I've been fleshing out the PC's playing area on my own (between Yartar and Silverymoon), but I'd appreciate being pointed to any online information on the following areas:

Yartar, the Evermoors, Silver Marches, Mornbryn's Shield, and the North in general.

Let me also say that Candlekeep is a wealth of information on the Realms for both DM and player, and I look forward to hearing from others here!

Thanks for the welcomes. I do have all the printed information on the area, including some of the earlier 1st and 2nd edition stuff, which at times is more inclusive than the 3rd edition info.

I was hoping to find some threads online that may have more information on the area; I realize that Ed Greenwood is online but I found his discussion threads so huge it was difficult to actually find anything on the subjects I was searching for!

Well met

Oh indeed, Ed's scrolls of Realmslore will have ye occupied for eons

Well met and welcome to Candlekeep! I'm sure you'll have no problem finding what you are looking for.

I will try to give you a little help myself although there are many scribes here with knowledge that far exceeds mine.

For the information that you seek I would check out the Silver Marches accessory. It is probably the single best 3E Realms supplement as far as realmslore is concerned.

Than there is Volo's guide to the north. I believe that one is available at Wizards of the Coast website for free download (I could be wrong on that one). It's 2nd edition but the lore should still work nicely.

And lastly I would recommend reading some of RA Salvatore's novels. The majority of the Drizzt series takes place in the north and should give you a pretty good feel for some of the places you mentioned (especially the Dwarves of the North).

Good luck in your search!

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
