Hello everyone, please allow me to introduce my self.
My name is Calumn Hamilton (aka The Defence Minister). I have for a while now been a big fan of all RPGs as well as the Forgotten Realms computer games so I hope that I may gain from the experience of other members here at Candlekeep while being of some use myself. I am only new to these forums but I am a long standing member with over 1000 posts at SG and 200+ at CMG so I am familiar with the forum rule structures and formats, however if I make any mistakes please bear with me - I assuer you they will be unintentional.
Just a coupld of things I was wondering, is it possible to upload/import a custom Avatar and is it possible to add images in your signature?
I hope my time here is long and enjoyable for all.

That is a good rule and in my opinion a perfectly fair one. Reading back through the old posts I think I can guess who you were refering too

Call me old fashioned or whatever, but this house rule actually reminds me of a non-weapon proficiency which didn't quite as good make the transfer to 3e, and which seems often forgotten in real life.
Etiquette
The most usefull skill if one wants to have good social conduct between different people. It can be pretty basic, or it can be quite detailed up to the point of ridiculousness. However if people respect at least a basic form of etiquette then that is a first step in making the world a better place.
In other words, if people are offended by this rule, then these people might want to look up in a dictionary (preferably a paper one) what the word means, and what it stands for. I'm pretty sure they will not be offended after understanding the concept.

Indeed Defence Minister, indeed!
The type of posts to which drummerboy465 refers, were quite common place amongst a handful of members on the forum a month or so back. We merely voiced that "me too" style posts should be avoided. For example, if you agree in something someone has said then obviously say so but expand on your answer. We are trying to avoid pages upon pages of "yeah" and "ill second that" and "definately" and...... well you see what i mean. It makes it easier reading and a more interesting forum if meaningful posts are written.
We hope this house rule hasnt offended anyone and will make this a more enjoyable place |

Australia and New Zealand call Rugby football even though it is clearly a hand orientated game. The Americans have American Football which is also hand orientated.

Oh, I see... that's kinda surprising. I was expecting they would be FR sites or the sites of some other campaign setting like DragonLance or something. So, TDM, are you a football player or football fan |

You'll enjoy this forum during your stay here. The scribes have been very busy since Alaundo and Tethoril opened up this chapter in Candlekeep. Besides some minor chatting, most scribes have been very active in writing about the lore of the Forgotten Realms.
I'm sure you'll feel right at home.

Zimeros, as Rad said Greetings is an old fashioned, formal version of hello but Hello seemed a bit boring and Greetings more FR.

Zimeros, "Greetings" is just like saying Hello, as in "Greetings to you" or "Greetings Friend" etc. Its a more formal older version of "Hello" I guess.

To answer your questions, you can indeed use a custom avatar image, but you must email the image to us at: webmaster@candlekeep.com and we will add this to your profile (also state whether or not you mind sharing the image with other members). The image must be a JPEG 64x64 pixels in size.
Unfortunately we do not allow images in posts or signatures.
