Posted - 21 May 2003 : 18:15:26 Out of boredom I sometimes try to come up with the most amazing min/max'd character concepts I can find.
Let's see what you've got...
For example I figured out that a first level human barbarian can have an astounding 22hp (Toughness feat taken twice, and an 18 constitution)
Does anyone else have a similarly crazy min/max combo for entertainment purposes only, mind you... |

10 Why not just make a happy human fighter? At 5th level start to take levels of Lancer out of AEG's War book. Now with this you can attack one person ten feet away from you, if you hit him then you get to attack the next person so long as they are within ten feet from you. The next thing you do is make sure that you can get combat reflexes, and have is so that you use your dex bonus for your chosen pole arm instead of str. Now ... when one of your foes finally steps up into your 5 foot space, you can make an attack on him and up to your dex in his company. The next one steps up and you can do it all over again.
Another fun one to do is see if your GM will allow you to play a rocket ranger. With this instead of dual weilding you take three bow feats, be a human and OOPS ... you can get four bow feat. Now put combat reflex on your rocket range and your all set.
Let see. If your a 3rd level fighter and your not worried about whats going on, then get yourself the Monkey grip feat. Make sure you get up some CP as well you will need it to pull this off. But get dwarven mail ( Mithril mail) a nice +1 tower sheild, a crystal Great sword with a nice keen +2, and some other form of magical bonus. Now you have a great sword that can get a crit on a what I do believe a 16-20 is x2 dmg (this can be done with a great axe as well btw, use 3/4's cover to get +7 AC, have a nice dex and you can also therefore get an ac of up to 25-30.
And yet again the cristal trick can work for something else. This may take a while for you to pull off. But make a fighter who uses gauntlets as his weapon. After doing so save up some cash. Right this second I dont remember the exact combo of stuff needed but you can end up getting cristal bladded gauntlets that has a threat on crits from 8-20.
I will find my notes later and tell you how to make the tripple didget AC man in both third and second Ed D&D.
Hmm ... there is always the goold old Power Attack cleave ranger.
You can make a double teamed min/max as well. Take a mage and a fighter. Have the mage take the Prest. Class of Warmage, now he can wear armor with a VERY small effect on his casting penalties. Have the fighter take the Prest. Class of SheildBearer (both from AEG's war book)Once they both get to 10th level at their prest. classes, you will have an armor wearing uber mage with a side kick who can give the mage (as long as he has a tower sheild and uses 3/4's cover on himself and anyone within 5 feet of him) a nice 14 ac bonus with a +2 to reflex saves, as well as Captin Sheild man being able to attack anyone who goes to attack the mage. Nice huh
Next we have the classic Barbarian turned into a forsaker.... Think about it ... its not hard to understand that combo lol.
The last of my small secerts that I will reveal tonight is the newest one I have thought of. If can actually run off from two branches. PLay as a monk, and either 1) turn him into a Brute (prest class from the war book) or turn him into a Iron Fist (found I do belive in the Mercenary AEG book). The brute will allow your uber monk to smash the hell out of any amor etc that the foe wears, as well as beat the piss out of him before your done. The Iron Fist way will allow you yo Do aboutt he same, however you still get monkey stuff as you go up in levels because the Iron Fist (if its the right prest class) is a monk like class.

Posted - 21 May 2003 : 22:48:35 I was hoping for specifics as I am still new to 3rd edition. Perhaps you could elaborate? What was his thrown attack bonus? and where did the bonuses come from?
Sorry to sound stupid but I am curious. |

I created one as a one shot NPC. His To-Hit roll with a thrown weapon was rather nice I thought. |
