I'm not usually the type of fella who gets nervous meeting "famous" people, like musicians I like or whatever - but, man, being in the same room with Ed, Eric L. Boyd, Rich Baker, and the rest of the authors and game designers at the Secrets of the Forgotten Realms seminar had me totally starstruck and nervous! Haha, it's totally embarrassing. I did manage to give Ed a simple "thank you" for creating the world in the first place. The Realms have been such a big part of my life for the last 20 years, that being in the presence of all those dudes was daunting. It was awesome, though, and they were all very nice and approachable and cool.
GenCon was killer; if you have never been, I can't recommend it enough!

Indeed. The longtime Lorelords of the Realms are all nice people. I have wandered into some GenCons incognito (once wearing a mask and wizard's costume that made me look like a fat male rather than a female with curves) and observed them all at close range. They want to be friends with fellow Realms fans, not worshipped gods. Anyone who's ever seen Ed proffer band-aids, tissues, and pencil and paper to a needy fellow gamer at GenCon knows he's a cuddly teddy bear, not someone to be scared of.
Very cuddly, as it happens . . .
love to all,
THO

It is easy to get star struck. I was too long ago, but now I count Ed, Steven, Eric, Brian and George (yeah Vegemite!)as some of my dearest friends. I may only see them once a year but we catch up quickly and I do email them alot.

Keep going to GenCon and it will get easier to be around them without just going "oh...hi...Realms...good" and walking away.
