Posted - 12 Aug 2007 : 17:10:20 I have been watching plenty of shows on Conspiracy theories like the Da Vinci Code, the Murder of Pope John Paul I and the history of the Masons.
My thought is what kind of Conspiracy theories might lead to a greater adventure? So I have started pour them out for review, to see if they can be expanded and to whom they might be believed.
1) The Murder of King Azoun IV
The base of this idea is that Vangderdast was behind the Devil Dragon and the ills of Cormyr, created for the purpose of putting a young heir on the throne. That he is using magic he couldn't use on Azoun to control the women guarding the baby.
The rumours of the strange magics that he is working on during his retirement might cause some to believe.
2) Clandestine Harpers/Moonstars
Just like how there is the True Free Masons and Clandestine Masons, there could be True Harpers and those using the Harper/Moonstar name to hid their true goals. Perhaps a cell of harpers that have become to attached to power, or some group like the Cult o' Dragon or the Zhents creating their own harper cells for their own purposes.
For example: A Harper with the Veil of Cyric feat within the Western group, who are not friendly with the moonstar, decides to collect certain harpers/harper allies to frame the moonstars for acts that bring disaster to different cities and kingdoms.
The Adventures might be Moonstars trying to keep their name clear or Harpers trying to prevent the corrupt of their organization.
Just some ideas that I wanted to share. |

Posted - 19 Aug 2007 : 12:31:44 Before reading “Elminster’s Daughter”, read the “Return of the Archwizards”-trilogy. It plays after Azoun’s death, but before the events of “Elminster’s Daughter”, and Vangerdahast is involved in the events described there. |

Ah,
Then you heard wrong since he's not what you said and he is now something else. Yeah, I'm trying not to spoil.
LOL!!
Thanks!
Now my interest is very peeked!! I guess those novels are being moved to the top of the list after the Return of the Archwizard series. =) |

If you are serious then the answer can be found in Elminster's Daughter. :)
Huh? I guess I don't know if I'm.... serious....
I haven't read any of the books about Cormyr past Cormyr: The Novel
I guess I should have better said "I thought I heard"
Anyhow, I have every intention of catching up on my FR novels. I have 50+ on my list to get through. =)

Posted - 13 Aug 2007 : 22:50:29 Conspiracy theories do not need any facts at all.
The public story told is part of the conspiracy. Also there clearly can he eyewittness that can claim that they saw something with their own eyes. |

I have been in a game where this was used....
One of the Masked Lords of Waterdeep who, lets just say had a BIG problem with daylight!!!!!! Yep a Vampire Mage, using his position and Charisma to dominate the Lords for a short time until a "plucky" young group of adventurers. ( read pesky kids ) unmask the toothed one and steaked him.
this could be used in any of the goodly power groups..

There are mages in Damara & Vaasa who specialize in what might be called white necromancy, or basically healing wizardry. From a game perspective, they could be created by having them take the arcane disciple feat for Ilmater and using the healing domain. However, what if some of these individuals are secretly blood mages, or secretly mystic theurges of Orcus.
