Posted - 10 Aug 2007 : 10:07:44 I have little information regarding what befell the night mask guild. I read LOD recently, and all seemed well. Night king Manshoon clone calling the shots, etc, and suddenly in the Erevis Cale book "Shadow's witness", we learn the night mask guild was obliterated somehow.
Does anyone have any details? Did the Manshoon clone survive? how did the guild fall? |

Posted - 11 Aug 2007 : 01:18:40 no, it was the night masks in Westgate, before Cale ran off to Selgaunt after he ripped them off. He joined the night knives later.
When Cale was talking to his friend Thamalon explaining where he was from and how he new the skills he knew, he claimed he was taught by the best players in westgate. That his teachers did not forgive mistakes. He claimed other players allied and forced his teachers out of Westgate. And when asked about his teacher, he confirmed Thamalon's suspicions by saying "I never saw his face", then in the book, explains why he said it like that(Faceless master)
This is all on page 127-129 of Shadow's witness. It confirms several times that the guild he was talking about was the night masks of Westgate.
I understand now the reason. It was before Manshoon was turned to vampire when the masks were almost disbanded, and Manshoon put them back together |

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Cale's guild in Selgaunt, the Night Knives? Its an easy mistake to make, but Cale went from being affiliated with the Night Masks in Westgate to being a member of the Night Knives in Selgaunt.
Yes, you're right. There was a subtle difference in the name, although it's easy to get confused. |

At any rate, I don't think the famous Night Masks are now defunct, like some others here that just doesn't sound right to me. |

That's what I was thinking.
After all, Ed's said the Manshoon clone is still largely active.

Ah, okay. If that's the case then that makes me not so concerned since those events happened before the current events with Manshoon, etc. |

News to me. When did this happen? :(
So, I guess I'm not much help because I can't recall any current material saying the guild was destroyed! And I researched the guild and Westgate very well because I was working on a short story that was set in Westgate. |
