I thought it appropriate to start a list of those of us attending Gencon this year in Indy. I will be there on Saturday, 8/18 for Ed's Spin a Yarn and would like the opportunity to meet my fellow scribes. If you will be attending please post here.

I hope I have placed this thread on the correct shelf, if not please move to the appropriate shelf.

Thanks

Mod Edit: Removed the sticky.

Many of them were outsiders, as a significant portion of the expansion is set in the Astral and other outer planes.

I didn't know that--though I haven't checked the NWN2 forums recently. Thanks for the information.

Cool,

Thanks Brian.

Unfortunately I did not get to see the trailer. It was scheduled on Thursday evening at the same time as the surprise 4E announcement, so I suspect few attended unless it was rescheduled.

Right, now that Gen-Con is done, I think we can remove the "sticky" side of this scroll.

I'll be at all the Forgotten Realms panels of course and I'm sure to attend the Pagan Get-Together panel now that I know George, Eric, and Steven will likely be there. My wife and I decided to bring our youngest daughter to Gen Con so I'll be the short guy with a bushy beard pushing a baby stroller around. My Gen Conj badge says “Grand History of the Realms” on it so you’ll know it’s me! Yeah, I’m a geek.

Well met

Aye, and just the kind of geek we love, giving so much time and dedication to wonderful tomes such as thine

Have a great time at GENCON, Brian. I'm sure it's to be the start of some very proud moments

Guys,

I'm just wondering if all of you decided on where and when you are meeting? I received a PM from a Genconer and he isn't sure if you all decided on a time and place so he left me a way to contact him if you all come up with a time and place.

So, I'm asking if there was a place that was settled on....

We're supposed to be in some of the upper level conference rooms at the Hyatt, IIRC. Check the schedule; for those who want to meet for late dinner/drinks after 9pm, come to the Pagan Get-Together panel on Thursday night--I'm planning on meeting that excited guy who talks with a funny accent (right, George?) there already.

I'll be there. Hopefully chaperoned by Mr Boyd. The wilds of the USA are hardly a place for wide-eyed Aussies to be wandering around solo in.

Oh, and we'll have to discuss this 'Blackstaff Tower' thingy you mentioned. For the first time... *cough*

I won't be able to make it, but if anyone wants to bother one of the people from my gaming group she will be running the following events with her husband at Gen Con:

From GamerChicksRule Website

Zombies (for Kids)!!! - Can you make your way through the city to the helicopter pad in order to escape the zombie invasion of your hometown? This simplified version of the Zombies!!! game is great for young gamers with dice rolling, counting, basic strategy, and teamwork...if you don't want to be the only one to survive.
Thursday, 1pm to 2pm - Kids
Game ID: KID00005

Homecoming Havok - You and your other cool clique best friends are the coordinators for the homecoming dance this year. Your reputations hang in the balance of making this homecoming dance the best EVAR! See if you can pull off an awesome homecoming in spite of your petty hatreds for each other. Best Friends is a diceless RPG, great for RPG veterans and first-timers alike. Women highly encouraged! Bring your BFF, too!
Saturday, 1pm to 3pm - RPG
Game ID: RPG00652

D&D introduction for women - This introduction to RPGs and D&D is for girls and women especially those who have never played D&D or even any RPG. Characters will be provided as will dice for use in the session. Bring your imagination and creativity along with your sense of adventure.
Sunday, 9am to 12pm - RPG
Game ID: RPG00249

Jack and the Beanstalk - Choose a faery character from among the pookas, brownies, pixies, and sprites of Brightwood Forest to help rescue Jack from the giant. Faery's Tale is a simple RPG system delightful for both children and adults. We encourage kids ages 6 to 13 to come with a parent for a magical adventure through this popular faery tale.
Sunday, 1pm to 3pm - Kids
Game ID: KID00001
Social Event

We are going to have a get together of the Gamer Chicks Rule community on Saturday night, August 18th, at 6:30pm. Our current plan is to have it at the food court in the Circle Centre mall right next to the convention center, but we may change that depending on the number of people that say they plan to attend. We will have some Gamer Chicks Rule loot, and it will give all the Gamer Chicks Rule members who attend GenCon a chance to meet each other. Bring a game, too, and maybe we can get in some gaming. Everyone is welcome including friends and family.

And, for what its worth, I did help playtest the Jack and the Beanstalk session AND the D&D Introduction for Women, even though I am neither a child nor a woman. See, I'm a really good roleplayer . . .

Hope you guys have a ball at GenCon this year, I won't be attending even though I'm just and hour and half south of Indianapolis.

Next year I am certainly going.

As Kuje said earlier in the thread, make sure it is the Hyatt hotel. That place is gorgeous inside, easy to access and easy to spot people from all directions.

Oh, and if you see "Chris" at Secrets of the Realms, boo him please...he really is a bum :(

Pagan Get-Together eh? Sounds interesting. Can you tell me anything more about it?

Well, base on what we did last year we mostly discussed, granted this was last year, different books that had pagan themes. :) The list is still up on Steven's thread since I asked him for it when I got home last year.

Not sure what this years pagan seminar is going to be like though.

Hi:

I'll be at the show. I might be found at the Green Ronin booth (still have my fingers crossed that Hobby Games: The 100 Best will be there). I'm also doing a couple of free seminars, as part of Lou Zocchi's "Syposium"--one (on the best hobby games) Thursday morning from 10-12, the other (on publishing in the hobby industry) Sunday morning from 10-12.

Cheers,
Jim Lowder

I never get why they seem to schedule everything major on Thursday night. Most of my time at Gen Con is free, but Thursday night has at least four or five competing events in which I'm interested.
George Krashos Posted - 13 Aug 2007 : 11:39:42
Hmm, I fly in at 4.53pm, have to collect baggage and then get to the hotel. From there it's two blocks to the con and I have to get my badge first. Somehow, I'm not sure I'm going to make it ...

Dragonlance Movie Trailer to Premiere at Gen Con Indy!
Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are thrilled to announce the world premiere of the trailer for the upcoming film, Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight, at the Gen Con Game Fair in Indianapolis, Indiana. The trailer for the animated fantasy film will be shown on Thursday night at 6:00 PM CDT (final location to be announced) along with footage shot by both Weis and Hickman during their journey alongside the filmmaking process. Margaret Weis Productions, Ltd. will be hosting the authors in booth #2417, along with actor Jason Marsden, who portrays Tasslehoff Burrfoot in the animated film. Weis, Hickman, and Marsden will be signing autographs and answering questions about the movie for the fans — who can also receive special Dragonlance movie collector's cards available only at the convention.
And remember to tell us all about it when you get back here!

I don't think Spin a Yarn is a good time to meet. Both the Secrets of D&D and Secrets of FR are scheduled following it if I'm not mistaken.

Well, I'll be the guy with the Australian accent. No doubt I'll get to say/ask something during the seminar. Other noticeable features will be a distinct lack of hair, jetlagged appearance and a wierd, "golly, I can't believe I'm really here!" expression.
