Hello all. Just was pondering if anybody misses two certain wyrms as much as I do. These beast would of course be, the Yellow Dragon and the Electrum. I will also specify quickly that the Yellow I refer to is the Faerun variety and not the version from the Dragon Compendium 1. I have scoured many areas to get these beasts updated to 3rd edition and I suppose I am just curious to see if anybody else is interested. On one of my journey's I was told that their is not enough Realmslore on them to matter, but I myself believe that their is. Also, I am curious as to the recent rage of dragon activities on the beast, I believe none has been recorded yet. But I will end this now, just seeing what everone's opinions are. Thanks  |

10-4 and thank ya (and sorry on my part, that was kinda obvious, guess i should of read down a smidge further). By the way, did anybody else like the info on the dragons I scrounged up? Hehe, just wondering, thanks again Kuje. |

I don't know if I should have made another thread on this but here we go. I am just trying to get a list of dragons together in FR that may have not been officially converted yet. Just seeing if anybody else may know of any more. Linnorms, Cloud, a few ocean varieties and true neutrals are what i can think of for now, anybody else know of any? |

Electrum Dragons (Draco Magus Electrum)
Electrum dragons are peaceful and philosophical in nature, but become deadly, alert, and deliberate fighters when aroused. They dwell alone in lairs of stone (abondoned buildings, mountains, caverns), far from civilization but they often welcome visitors because they enjoy trading, bargaining, and philosophical debate. They hoard things of beauty rather than monetary wealth (which is not to say these items are not priceless). Common hoard items include statues, musical instruments, tapestries, gems and jewlry (coinage is extremely rare).
In battle, electrum dragons prefer to use their spells and breath weapon from a distance. Tbey are wise generals, anticipating the strategies of foes. However, if they are forced into melee or their spells and breath weapons do not work, they prove to be deadly warriors. The breath weapon of an electrum dragon is an unstable gas which causes enfeeblement and/or confusion. Electrum Dragons are also great spell casters, some innate some not. They often research magic to add to their already mighty arsenal of magic and are formidible in the arts of the arcane.
Electrum dragons spend much time in tought, often perched on mountain peaks, as immobile as statues. They are curious and like to watch unnoticed the activities of creatures that dwell around them. Much of their time is spent seeking out things of beauty or practicing magic (for they find beauty in the use of magic itself). Electrum dragons will mate approximately once every century.
Electrum dragons eat lichens, scrub bushes, and graze treetops for tender young leaves. They also eat all manner of fish, fowl, and meat, especially enjoying the flesh of wyverns and griffons. Some electrums have invented new spells and have sold or given them to humans and elves. In some places, electrum dragons are worshiped by primitive tribes or respected as sages.
*Between the years of 709-711, during the fall of Myth Drannor, 8 gold dragons and 8 silver dragons were merged during a wild magic surge, creating 8 unique Electrum dragons which were not the same as the current electrum dragons. Some sages say that these were the progenitors of the Electrum Dragons.
Yellow Dragon
Although the existence of yellow dragons has long been predicted by sages (based on theories of primary colors), the first species was spotted only five years ago (placing the timeline 1345-1355 approximately, at the approximate time of the writing of the book of dragons). However, information from the cult of dragon indicates that the yellows have been around for quite a bit longer than that, and that the cult has enjoyed using them for various purposes. The creatures are solitary and secretive, preferring to lay in wait for prey to stumble into carefully prepared traps instead of hunting actively (A yellow dragon will actively lair in the lowest regions available with the thought that fatigued and tired "prey" will go to the lowest point, consciously or sub-consciously.) At birth, yellow dragons have soft, tan scales. As they grow their scales lighten up eventually reaching the grayish yellow of desert sands, and they always have a dusty texture to them, giving them a finish that does not reflect light that well. No part of a yellow dragon will glint in the sunlight and give away their position.
Yellows prefer guile to combat and ambush to attack, but are fierce and cunning fighters. Even if they are forced into direct combat, they'll still use their spells and innate abilities so as to mislead, misdirect, and distract their opponents. A favorite tactic of the yellow is to dig a steep-walled, cone shaped depression in the sand, and then bury itself at the bottom of the crater with just its eyes and nostrils showing. When a creature stumbles into the depression, the dragon moves its wings in the sand, causing the steep walls of the cone to collapse and drawing the prety straight into the dragon's mouth. A yellow dragons breath weapon is a high-velocity blast of cone-shaped scorching air mixed with sand. On top of the heat to worry about, the grit in the eyes can cause blindness.
Yellow dragons love deserts, preferring areas of sandy, windswept desolation. They are most comfortable in daytime temperatures of 105 degress and up, although they can easily survive subfreezing temperatures at night (The first 'official' specimen of a yellow dragon was collected in an area of Anauroch called the Anvil of the Gods, where the average daytime temperature is 115 degrees.). They share much of the same territory as brasses thus the species occasionally come into conflict. Yellows are solitary, selfish creatures that form no close bonds with any other creature, including other yellows. They are high territorial; the only time they'll let another yellow into their territory is to mate, which is actually quite rare. Immediately afterward, the dragons seperate. The mother raises the offspring, but won't go out of her way to protect them from attackers.
Although able to eat anything, yellows favor fresh meat. (Demi)Humans are considered a delicacy, as are the unhatched eggs of brass dragons. (Yellows rarely get to enjoy this latter feast :D)
Recent Years/Rage of Dragons
I actually do not feel at liberty to describe these events lol. I do not feel as if I am a sage, a scribe etc. The best I can say is that the Yellows probably scoured Anauroch and most northern lands and I wouldn't be sure with the Electrums. I would say the electrums would have perhaps found a way magically to get past the rage in a peaceful way (a method similar to Nexus's slumber, perhaps plane jumping like the gems) I couldn't really say. Anyways, Here is to hoping they will convert these too dragons (keeps fingers crossed just like the past few years).
Also I did not find any good fan conversions yet for the Electrum. Boz from enworld had one but it is a bit overpowered and unfortunately I cannot find the link anymore. The enworld creature catalog (I think the Creature Catalog is a good source for some hard to find unconverted creatures in general) has a good conversion of the Yellow Dragon however. Also, the sand dragon from the sourcebook Sandstorm can be used for the Yellow (I do not like to do that however) and also the Tome and Hex Dragon from Dragon 343 could be used for the Electrum (still insist that we need the actual Electrum).
I think that's about all the information I have folks. I compiled these from the following sources.

Ok, I will see what I can gather (I have to get my notes lol). The one difficult part is on the Electrum because I suppose their are two varieties but on this I will try and straighten out. Might take a few days but I will see what I can do. |

Unfortunatley I haven't heard of this two Special dragons before.

I am still happily based in the 2ed, so I have little knowledge of what the status of the being is as of now, but I would be very interested in what you could put together lore-wise about the two species. Both from official sources and self-made. |

Sure... if you want to write something about them, do so. :) Who cares if people tell you that there's no interest, if you think there is then update and write some material about them. |
