Posted - 15 Feb 2007 : 18:51:41 I remember, long ago, upon reading the description of a yuan-ti bow in Icewind Dale, there the owner of the bow was laid low by a follower of Assuran, Lord of Vengeance. I never seem to hear any more of Assuran nor read about him in the campaign books where dieties are described. Does Assuran exist in the Realms? |

Posted - 23 Feb 2007 : 16:59:38 You could try reading this thread.
But since it's 38 pages I'll include my own recommandations.
Start with either Elaine Cunningham's books (if you like Salvatore's drow books I guess that the Shadows and Starliht trilogy would be a good way to start), the Sembia Series, Ed Greenwoods's Knights of Myth Drannor trilogy, or (if you can get your hands on it) Jeff Grubb and Kate Novak's Finder's Stone trilogy. |

Posted - 22 Feb 2007 : 17:00:23 Man, I am really narrow in my realmslore. I need to look beyond the Icewind Dales and the Sea of Swords. Anyone have any pointers as to which novels would be good to start which does'nt include the world of Salvatore? |

Posted - 21 Feb 2007 : 14:34:57 There was the Chultan deity Eshowdow, but he was killed and absorbed by Shar.
If you count vegeance as revenge (which some might not do, considering Shevarash has both in his portfolio), there's also Kiaransalee. |

Posted - 21 Feb 2007 : 14:19:49 Do any other races have deities with revenge as a portfolio? The only other one I can remember is Shevarash. |

Posted - 18 Feb 2007 : 12:30:57 There seems to be more use of the god recently. Lisa Smedman had a character who was a priest of Assuran, and the protagonist of the recent Bloodwalk was a follower. Hoar does seem to be a fun role-playing deity |

Posted - 17 Feb 2007 : 08:35:14 I presently trying to finish up a detailing of Hoar's Domain for the Candlekeep Compendium. It's basically collecting all the tidbits we've had about Hoar/Assuran that have been published so far, and giving it a basis in the Great Tree cosmology.
I'm not sure when it'll be finished though.

Posted - 15 Feb 2007 : 19:11:31 You can find more information on Hoar in the Powers & Pantheons book from 2 ed. Great book, as are the other two deities books which I warmly recommend. |
