I was watching the BBC, here in Merry Ol' England, when the trailer came on for the Doctor Who Christmas Special. Watching it, I noticed a rather familiar looking half woman, half spider monster, which you can see here.

Bares a rather striking resemblance to our favourite Spider Queen, hmm?

I've never liked the new Doctor Who as pretty much everything is ripped off from something else with little or no effort to make it their own. I remember the Illithids drinking soda aka Ood, though I didn't really see the Rachnos queen as Lolth-like.

I would have to agree with that. Espically if being a drider is one of the worst punishments ever. Then why would it be a punishment to look like loth. besides loth is attractive.

Driders have no sex organs so its allowing you to be incredibly pretty but nothing to do with it forever.

....brr.

Actually I'm sure some of us remember seeing Lloth on TV years ago, on the D&D cartoon!
Those who don't can see her on the new DVD that came out recently. Not the best cartoon ever made, but very enjoyable for those who enjoy seeing all the D&D references and monsters that appear.

Could it be Halisstra, perhaps? On the hunt for Elistraee worshipping drow?

Well, none of this surprises me...Remember the Ood? Do they *remind* you of something? My friends and I...Gathered around the television...Speculating over the commercial...Reading "Welcome to Hell"...And POOF! ILLITHIDS! No, wait...Ood...Agh! Lol, okay, seeing D&D in Doctor Who has me all shaken and over-excited, as you might have noticed...Two of my favorite things combined and all...
But yes, if that's not a drider, then my name's Lolth! (Which it isn't, despite popular mythology!)

It is as close as we will get to actually seeing something resembling Lloth or a drider on tv.

My question is how they got my mother to take off her makeup and pose for the camera.

Not even a Holy avenger Sonic Screwdriver + 4 ??

I think it's more of a Dire Drider construct ish thingy!

In 1st or 2nd she hard psionic abilites to shield from such mundane attacks. Of course even in 3rd she could have turned the Doctor into anything she wanted to.

It clearly was not Lolth.
