When you gear up to play, grab your dice, newly cleaned up character sheet, and head to the appointed place and time, what are you looking forward to in the game.

I guess that the question would be what is your favorite part of the game what do you really love when it happens.

For me I would have to say it's the IC interaction with other players. I played DnD for many years as the solo player with a DM so I missed out on that(or the DM for a solo player). But now! Tarim Ravenmane is great fun to play in Mumadar's Silver Marches campaign. I look forward to each turn trying to figure out how Tarim would see each person's actions and how he feels about it and them. This is great stuff people!

My second favorite thing is magic items. Especially special custom ones that I don't know what they do yet.

when im a DM i like that players work for the evil without they know it. I mean that evil guys are always pretty clever with a high sophisticated plan. Always involving a great part of the world. Players work for them and learn a lot from them, in the end or they finally understand everything and win or they dont and die.

I dont do it everytime of course, but im always very impartial, if they must die because they dont understand, they die, no second chance.
And my evil guys are just like they must be: they do the most they can for themselves, no mistake or very few and best man at the best moment. Thats why players work for them, if not, why would they live further?

Im a cruel DM... but i like it so much

Truth be told, I cannot really say that I enjoy one aspect of the game than another; I just love D&D in general.

I really enjoy the game because its a chance for our group to get together- we dont all get a chance to get together normally, D&D is a great social game.
I feel the same way as Zemd. I love challanging my players- i love it when they go home saying God that was a great game. I have found that the new rulebooks give one great peice of advise. Learn what your group wants from a game. I found out this the hard way.
As a player (The few times i play) i love interacting with others around the table. Playing the game getting IC and then in the middle of the battle annoying the dm by asking some one "What are you upto next week" Only when it isnt your turn tho!

Ha. What a question! So hard to say...I'm going to have to agree with Perth on this one though. Nothing beats finding an old dusty tome of lost and forgotten knowledge. Also finding magically enchanted weapons and armor. Not to say i dont like any other parts of the game. I love all parts of the game in general.

Well, I am also quite new PbeM and D and D as well, but I love roleplaying in the game with a great group. There are currently 2 groups I play in now...one is a group that doesn't gel well yet, but there is one (SM) that gels quite well and I really enjoy playing my ranger there. I have to say developing my character within a good group of people is my favorite part of the playing so far.

What i wait the most (and fear as well) is how my players will feel at the end of the game. I want them to say "WWOOOHAAAA, that was great!". I try to have the most interesting and thrilling adventure i can, so that everyone i involved.

Sadly, only a few of my adventures manage to achieve these goals.

As a player,... i don't know, ... i like to do everything, anything that i don't do in real life, i like just to play.

Well, I'm a bit of a newbie so I don't have very much experience in playing D&D, but I would have to say my favorite part would be the character creation. I find it fun to make choices about what a character will be like, what skills he/she will have, and one of the most fun parts is writing a good character background.

Well, I look forward to see what kind of events the DM is going to throw us into. As mentioned in a previous thread (Gaming Rituals I think) the doppleganger RP was quite interesting. I also like to see what kind of group I'm going to be traveling with. The RPG I did consisted of three of us. Two dwarves and one drow (me). One dwarf was a psionic fighter I think and the other was a ranger. He called himself a typical dwarf and ended up always trying to pounce on things or to charge things. Lol. It was quite comical. But yeah. Those are some things I look forward to when I RPG. The interesting people you come across as well as the missions and the obstacles that the DM throws your way.

Game-wise, I like the fighting but I'm still anewbie so my favorite thing my change. I also love all the races and classes and the wonderful mixing you can do with them.

Real-life, I love being able to get with my friends and let myself forget life and enter a world that holds all my favorite things: Magic, Fighting and good company.

I'd have to say it's just getting together with the group that I look forward to the most. We hardly get to see each other these days because we live so far apart.

Game-wise, I'd have to say it's looking forward to adding another chapter to the history of Yasraena. Each game just increases her story, personality and people she's dealt with to where it's like a mini novel now.

There's also the anticipation of what our GM's next diorama for the final battle will look like. So far we've had one for the Abyss, a Drow lair and a Dracolich lair, all of which have been 12'x4' in area. The lengths he goes to to make these things never ceases to surprise and amaze me.

For me, nothing excells on finding that old dusty tome deep in the heart of an dark crypt or necromancer's underground laboratory, and then, all the undead you had to destory to get there. Very satisfying.

I enjoy very much the hunt for books of knowledge, for me it is the most rewarding aspect in any FR campaign. And the good thing about it is, sometimes the DM uses forgotten spellbooks which are currently outside my PC's casting ability, so the strive to get the experience to read the tome...very exciting.

What can I say, I love knowledge.
