Okay so any speculation on the interaction that if any the Jhaamdath empire and the Netheril Empires had? I got to wondering this when i recently read the Shadowbred book, and came across the comment by the lord shadows about mindmages and being unusual in this day and age. I have a few theories on it but i would love to hear what you wise Sages have to say on this interesting subject.

The Netherese put a great deal of emphasis on Arcane magic, and placing arcane users at the top of there culture and Jhaamdath more than likely did the same with Psionic wielders. The Netherese probably looked down on the Jhaamdathans (pardon the pun) for using inferior "magics" and the Jhaamdathans would have had a similar views on arcanists

Hm . . . for some reason Sakkors now springs to mind . . .

Building off the Netherese boxset, I would say J-N connections would be (and ought to be?) limited. That said, I think there is room to connect the 2 empires in tangental ways that do not re-write the established history of either (limited trade between the 2 empires; a noble from one empire marrying a noble of the other; refugees from Netherese fleeing to Jhaamdath). The furthest I might take this would be having a secret project jointly worked on by small factions from both empires. Could be the basis for an interesting adventure.

I do not think the 2 empires would be enemies, nor would they be allies given the Netherese use of slaves (gnomes et. al.). But that's just me.

I'm more interested in Jhaamdath - Imaskar relations, wars could have escalated easily between them, considering slavery

I think that the Netheril - Jhaamdath relation was already explained, maybe in Ed Bonny questions thread, something that Netherese liked to visit beatiful white cities of Jhaamdath for vacation ...

I wouldn't say ignore eachother, not even he elves could just ignore Netheril...

I have no idea how they would have interacted wit eah other, a highly magic society vs a highly psionic society...both very powerful and arrogant (seeing the elves had to resort to a WMD spell to finish them)

and the Netherese southern border at least reached Skull Gorge, that means Jhaamdah and Netheril were only a few hundred miles away from each other...making Jhaamdath the closest human empire to Netheril (Calim/Shoon empire [can't remember exact dates] and the imaskari as the others off hand)

Actually i was aware that Jhaamdath is a new creation and that the empire of magic was while not issolationists more like they just ignored others because they didn't care. But i was wondering if you though there was any contact between the two great empires, and if so how was it positive or negative or more likely a neutral trading partnership?

As I recall, Steven's original work on Jhaamdath started about 8-9 years ago, coming up in the Realmslore in about 1998/1999 with Calimport, Empires of the Shining Sea, and Sea of Fallen Stars. The N:EoM boxed set was published in '96.

Although, I am sure there were exceptions.

I don't remember any mention of Jhaamdath in the box set eithor, but I also don't remember any mention of Calimshan (or whatever it was called back then)

but I don't think Jhaamdath was even "invented" when the box set was published
