Well met

Just a short note to inform ye all that the forums will be taken down for maintenance for a short period over the next few days.

This downtime should only be for approximately 2-3 hours. During this time, the site proper will still be available as this operation only affects the forum itself.

Thank ye.

No there were several hours of "strangeness". Seems to be working fine now though.

Hmmmm, I woke up to find the forums in an odd state, this morn. With there also being a lack of posts since post-midnight GMT, I assume there was a problem?

It appears that the operations at the web host end had yet to be performed to finalise the migration and that a server variable refresh was required (which I have just performed).

Oh yeah... The site was down most of the evening. When I did get an error message, it was something about "too many connections."

So I take it Im not the only one to have had a complete bastard of a time trying to connect to the forums today?

So this means that there might be another downtime, 90 hours later.

A Planed outage general states a day and estimated time period it will occur, not something like , hey people the system will not work some uncertain time in the future.

I believe it would have been proper to provide at least 8 hours lead time for planed outage, 24 at the outside.

Not some vauge 5 day lead time, that provided nirther date or time.

We of course can disagree.

Also waiting for the proof your promised to provide me.

Well met

Many apologies for the inconvenience, Kentinal. The operations behind the scenes have been going on for over a month now and hit MANY issues along the way. Whilst it only appears to be a URL change on the surface, there has been a major overhaul at a system level. Implementation of this has been pulled a number of times over the past week due to issues, so I was unable to give an accurate downtime. It was simply a case of when it's ready, run with it quickly.

The change appears to be a success and hopefully will eliminate previous errors and issues we have had with gremlins in the past.

Minor obserbvation is

http://www.candlekeep.com/home.htm still offers http://www.candlekeep.com/forum/default.asp as referring page, which right now results in a redirect.

Well met

hmmm, most odd. I replaced links to the old forum URL last night but it appears as though the menu and home page weren't picked up in the scan I'll get these updated later.

I noticed a couple of nagging kinks here and there Big Al... though I'm not sure whether it's because SageOS is still waiting for full conversion of the DNS to hit our part of the world.

I'll give it a few more hours, and then I will let you know.

Well met

Apologies all for the downtime tonight. This was scheduled as a necessary maintenance operation and we're now back to normal.

If you're reading this, then you'll likely be aware of the new URL for the forums too
