Posted - 20 Aug 2006 : 02:26:55 Does the Player's guide to Faerun detail the month or better yet the date of King Azoun IV's death? I know it has a pretty detailed timeline but my copy is out of state at the moment. Thanks ahead of times guys. |

Be assured I will pass it along to Ed. However, I believe he has Realmslore articles written and handed in for months to come. (And Waterdeep News, too.) 'Tis the Border Kingdoms series in which he's only a few instalments ahead of the WotC online staffers, I believe. Ed has many, many topics that "need more delving into" on his platters - - and a number of novels and sourcebooks right in front of him now.
Speaking of Eds online articles any idea when where going to start submiting some more? (its been almost 6 months since his last one) |

I know the birth took place first, I'm just unsure of how close the two events were from one another.
Azoun V is born in the nighttime hours of 11 Mirtul. Azoun IV dies that same night, or at the very latest in the wee morning hours thereafter.
Azoun IV lived long enough to learn of his grandson's birth, and his naming, but Vangerdahast did not (at Filfaeril's request) mention anything of Tanalasta's passing.
This is, of course, unless I'm severely misreading the text of the novel, but I've gone over it several times. |

Posted - 17 Oct 2006 : 20:45:03 Bah! I always liked Azoun too much, so my games were always set before his death. Heck, before the whole Time of Troubles, for that matter! I dunno why, I just liked the setting better before all of that. The grand thing about playing in an established setting with a definitive timeline is that you can choose to set your story anywhere along said timeline! |

Posted - 10 Oct 2006 : 04:23:25 The 2nd Edition module Four from Cormyr uses as its backdrop a birthday celebration for Azoun IV. There's snow on the ground in Suzail, which means that portion of the adventure is some time in fall or winter.
The other date involves a complex mathematics of what-happens-when as regards the CORMYR SAGA, the precise dating of the death of Azoun IV/birth of Azoun V (both 11 Mirtul, by the way), and the months betwixt that date and the preceding birthday celebration which appears in Book II: Beyond the High Road. This sort of post-dating from existing evidence would place the late King Azoun IV's birthday somewhere in the summer months--most likely in Flamerule (and 1307DR in any case).
When I asked Ed about the matter, Azoun IV was very much a child of the summer. |

Any idea what days they are, or where I can find that information? Thanks! |

BTW, Castlemourn is not among them; in other words, Ed's work on Castlemourn isn't delaying his Realms projects at all (because Ed's work on CM was essentially done years back). NDAs prevent Ed telling me specifically what he's up to at the moment, but I suspect we'll all read the results in the fullness of time. love, THO |

Which would definitely make a fine introduction to a future Realmslore article regarding coronations/royal birthdays/weddings in the Realms.

Posted - 20 Aug 2006 : 03:11:02 I checked the eulogy already I couldn't find a date in the version I found. Didn't see it in Power either.
But using the info you provided above I honed my searches and found it here. Death Mirtul 11th 1371 DR and funeral Kythorn 11th, a month later. Thanks guys. |

Posted - 20 Aug 2006 : 02:46:35 It's noted in Power of Faerun as well.
Hmmm... I seem to recall a month and day mentioned as well. Ed's "Azoun Eulogy" comes immediately to mind. I'll have to check.
