I play a NG halfling who has established himself in Beregost as a merchant and a councel member. He worships Lathander as well as any other god that will help him with minimal obligation. He is building himself a house that will double as a meeting place to make deals etc.
He wants the main entrance hall to be filled with deity symbols but I'm sort of having a tough time choosing which ones to have and which not to have.
Some are obvious:
Chauntea
Gond
Lathander
Mystra
Oghma
Sune
Selune
Sharess
Tymora
Waukeen
Some not as obvious:
Brandobaris
Kelemvor
Malar - to keep the wild away from Beregost
Umberlee - he does a lot of sea voyages
Yondalla
But I'm sure I'm missing a bunch. He doesn't want to anger any gods but he also doesn't want to piss anyone off who might be doing a business deal with him. If people have suggestions please post them. |

I think the following deity symbols would be best: Tymora for fortune and luck, Helm for protection and guardianship against blackmailers and double dealers, Yondalla(afterall she seems to be a patron for most halflings), Waukeen as your PC is a merchant too so it is wise to have Waukeen symbol too.
For shady deals, I say Shar would be fine enough as she is the Lady of Secrets afterall. |

That would depend upon how the halfling considers luck itself.
He might allow for Tymora, good luck for business deals, but to keep things in balance, he may also decide Beshaba needs some representation as well... to hold bad luck in check.

You might want to consider Helm--being a god of protection, he's the type of deity just about anyone will call on from time to time. |

Not Shar she seems to dislike casual worship and wouldn't grant some one anything for it but maybe Mask. I know Mask prefers secret shrines so that works well. |

I would recomand Shaundakul, Brandobaris, Umberlee and Llira to complete the list of your obvoius. And to keep his secrets well hidden, he micht want to pay omage to Shar and Mask as well, in private though.... |

Myself I'd go with Waukeen, since the char is a merchant and Tymora and Brand for luck and cause that halfling is also Tymora's lover in the halfling pantheon. And of course Beshaba to ward of bad luck. |

Was thinking some more is it bad luck to pay tribute to Tymora and not Beshaba? I know Malar and Umberlee are evil gods recongnized in tribute and prayer by many Nuetral and Good characters to bless a hunt or a voyage. |

Savras is another. The fate of any business deal can often be made or broken within the first few minutes of a meeting between potential client and the dealer. Recognition of that fact, through a symbol of Savras, might make clients more comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings.

Maybe some of the lesser known halfling gods like Avoreen and Brandobaris? Brandobaris is the halfling god of adventure. |

Shaundakul would be a good one, and since Llira held Waulkeen's portfolio while she was away, some merchants still pay her tribute. |
