Getting straight to the point, would there be any Realms-wide superstition and related stuff? Our group came up with a few, but they only apply to a certain region.

For example, killing spiders is really, really bad luck. We came up with that one since the region we're currently playing in is known to have several cave entrances to the Underdark and suffers from drow raids.

Or maybe how you shouldn't enter glades or any forest clearings deep in the woods, or else you'll never come back. This was based on the hostile relation between a village and the feyfolk inhabiting the neighbouring forest.

Anything that would be applicable to any location and anyone?

For something to be Faerūn-wide, it would either have to apply everywhere, or it would have to start in one area and spread out from there, much like many modern superstitions started in Europe and were carried around by colonists.

There might be older superstitions particular to ethnic groups, that have been carried by settlers as they moved into new areas. But that's about the only chance I see for superstitions that are wide-spread.

I would think that this would fall in line with a couple of other recent threads where, in my opinion, they would be region specific. I would imagine folks would have many, many superstitions, and in the realms, probably a lot of them warranted. However, I still can not think of one that would be Faerun wide.
