Forgive me for saying this if it is slightly off topic, I remembered that there was a website where a campaigner regularly posted his campaign happenings, it was published in the site that the Shades had transferred twelve enclaves of their empire into Faerun's Anauroch, and they successfully beat the hell out of the alliance army from Halruaa, Lords Alliance, Bedine, wiped the phaerimm off the map and even snubbed Mystra as well.

Well, since he ties this event to Mystra's destruction by Helm during the ToT, perhaps he warrants that Midnight's acension limited the need to place so much power among mortals (just a guess on my part).
Perhaps.

It would depend upon just how Midnight replaced Mystra in this DM's campaign.

The whole Avatar/Aspect/Chosen concept baffled me anyway...the novels only add to my confusion. I just finished Ressurection. For example is Lolth's Yor'thae an avatar, aspect or chosen?
Until we learn otherwise in some official material through a sourcebook... all we've got to go on is what Paul's already told us.

Yes . . .

Strangely though... we know Mystra's Chosen serve a specific function with regard to holding portions of Mystra's divine power -- so I wonder how this DM handles that with only one Chosen. Surely he doesn't expect Elminster to carry all that power?

The gods are only allowed one Chosen, and the current Chosen of Mystra is the Archmage Elminster of Shadowdale.

An interesting turn...

Of course, as many know... Mystra's Chosen are the ONLY Chosen in my FR campaign. But I'm curious about the possibilities that could come from allowing only ONE specific Chosen for the Lady of Mysteries.

These are the other changes hes made

quote:

The desert of Anauroch no longer exists. The Phaerimm where banished long ago to another dimension (by the Sharn), and with the help of elves, the land was healed over a 2,000 year span. The Netheril Sea is now the dominating feature with many ports along its coast. (I am not 100% on this ....I keep thinking of changing it in the future to a cataclysm. )

The City of Shade now floats above the largest island in the Netheril Sea and is the capital of the new Shade Empire.

Many elves in the last 10 years have returned from Evermeet to their ancient home in the Cormanthor forest. They drove the dark elves from the Elven Court, and are now trying to reform the Cormanthyr Empire.

It’s widely rumored that many of these elves are not actually from Evermeet, but come from a different world, just like the elves of old are not natives to Toril.
The new Coronal (ruler) of Cormanthyr is Arilyn Irithyl, and she is the daughter of the previous Coronal, Eltargrim Irithyl. Her Rysar (reign) will be the 7th in a line stretching back to –4000 DR.
Coronal Arilyn has declared a willingness to clean Myth Drannor and is giving permission to enter the ruined city. All non elven treasure and lore is free for the taking. Interested groups should contact Seren Duskblade in Shadowdale for more information. (I love the Ruins of Myth Drannor box set, especially those maps)

Cormyr and Evereska have allied together and operate a joint navy on the Netheril Sea called the Blue Dragons. (At the time I didn't know the name of the normal navy)
Daggerdale is slowly becoming a major power and has fought off two invasion attempts recently by the Zhentarim. The 2nd invasion force was fought off with mercenaries and with help from Cormyr.
Daggerdale ruler Randal Morn and the ruler of Shadowdale Lord Morngrym Amcathra are currently in negotiations to form a unified realm. (this is not well known, I have never given this information out.

One of the Seven Sisters is now solely a Chosen of Eilistraee, and the others are no longer chosen of Mystra at all. They lost their chosen status after the previous goddess of magic was killed by Helm for trying to climb the Celestial Stairway during the Time of Troubles. Persoanlly I always wondered why the Shades tried to melt the Glaciers in the Return of the Arch Wizards trilogy instead of just opening a portal to the Elemental plane of Water

Now THAT is a realms shaking event, all right. Anauroch completely flooded. Wonder what the Phaerimm have to say about that? (assuming that this guy hasn`t killed them all in his campaign)

Perhaps that was the reason hehe

Wow, that would complicate things for the Zhents... I also have to wonder about the effect on the local Underdark.

Well ya never know....

SPOILERS FOR RETURN OF THE ARCHWIZARDS

In the last book, Shades were placing some "magical blankets" over the High Ice, causing it to melt. There were reports of large scale flooding to the west of Anauroch and who knows how much further they got and if it got out of hand.
Wandering_mage Posted - 16 May 2006 : 13:59:19
Wow, that is a BIG change. I guess that was the goal though. A floating city does have its advantages, no matter how tilted it is and close to the ground it is. Do we have any info on that kind of stuff?
