Posted - 25 Apr 2006 : 14:48:13 Given that the deep orcs and the demon planetouched orcs are in close geographical proxmity to one another (i.e. they're both present in the Silver Marches), it seems pretty much inevitable that the two will eventually come into contact, if it hasn't already happened.
So, what do you guys think will be the outcome of this event? War? An alliance? How about offspring (orogs are just an orcish subrace, after all)?
On the subject of orcish breeding, has anyone ever given any thought to what a half-orc or an ogrillon (half-orc/ogre) with an orog or tanarruk parent might be like? |

OK... Planning on running an adventure based on the novel "the Black Bouquet" and need a good picture of the main villain, a tanarruk who are the leader of a thief guild. Found the one mentioned above, but i am not all that impressed with it. Hoped for a better picture somewhere. Ill keep on looking. Let me know if any of you come up with anything.
Doubt you will find a "decent" pic of a Tanarruk in 3E, 2E might have some images though. But not sure. |

Besides the picture, know that the Tanarruks are heavily populated in the Nether Mountains of the Silver Marches. |

Posted - 26 Apr 2006 : 01:39:35 Tanarruks are driven by their fiendis nature and are very eager to engage any fights that comes their way. Orogs are more likely to think of them as abominations and and freaks which will trigger the switch to launch a war between the orogs and Tanarruks, well the Tanarruks don't hate orogs, they are even eager to fight King Obould's orc army. The Tanarruks are supposedly free of the demonic control at Hellgate keep and are gathering in numbers in the Nether Mountains so they are a roaming free and dangerous group. Given the Tanarruk stats, I estimate it would take at least three to four orcs to bring down one Tanarruk.
Offspring between orog and Tanarruk, well if it happens, I think the child is more likely to be a normal orc but with faint traces of demonic heritage which can be considered as insignificant. But such union is less and highly unlikely to occur as I can't imagine an orog finding a Tanarruk a nice mate to breed with and vice versa.
Half-orc or orgrillon mate with a orog, well in terms of genetics, I believe an full fledged orc offspring will result with faint traces of ogre or human heritage but of course it won't be seen in the appearance but behavior and thinking may have some slight alteration. If Half-orc or orgrillon breed with tanarruk, that can be a complicated matter and two possibilities, an orc child with some faint traces of foreign heritage will result or another sort of half-breed with changes in appearance(hard to explain), behavior, strength and constitution as well as thinking. Such kind of union is something I can't imagine yet as solving such kind of genetics is a quite complicated matter. |

Posted - 25 Apr 2006 : 22:42:08 I recall that in LEOF it mentions that Orogs who have settled in Splendarmorn, the capital of Ammarindar, have captured some Tanarukks and consider them abominations. They are now considering a crusade against them, but their numbers are few. |

Oh, it's probably safe to say that their first impulse will be start busting each other up - two wannabe-imperial powers having a meeting engagement, and all that. Whether they settle down and talk is probably a function of whether or not the top echelons at Hellgate Keep can rein in their troops before things get out of hand - the orogs are a relatively contemplative and canny lot, so they'd probably be willing to talk (even if only to evaluate the opposition) as soon as they realise that these 'fiendish orcs' are just footsoldiers for something(s) with a lot more clout, but tanarukks strike me as needing close adult supervision, and they could easily start a for-real blood-feud or a full-blown war if nobody's around to do their thinking for them.
As far as half-tanarukks might go, I don't think it's ever come up before. AFAIK, tanarukks breed true with other tanarukks and with other orcs, but I can't imagine any human going there willingly, and tanarukks don't generally leave their victims alive after they're done raping them - they either kill them or turn them over to their fiendish masters, which can be even worse. |
