Back to my giant obsession now that I am back . . .
Ruk, father of Hill Giant Bloodline
Obadai, father of Stone Giant Bloodline (Phaerlin Giants)
Ottar, father of Frost Giant Bloodline
Masud, father of Fire Giant Bloodline
Nicias, father of Cloud Giant Bloodline (Fog Giants)
Vilmos, father of Storm Giant Bloodline (Maur Giants)
Dunmore, father of Wood (Forest) Giant Bloodline
Lanaxis, father of Titan Bloodline
Julian & Arno, fathers of the Ettin Bloodline
Othea's Children (with Ulutiu), Firbolds, Fomorians, Verbeegs
Othea's Children (with Vaprak), Trolls (various Troll breeds), Ogres (various ogre breeds)
Extra Planar Giants, Fensir, Shadow Giants
?= Death Giants, Eldritch Giants, Geriviars, Bog Giants, Ocean Giant
So, what is the point of the above? I want to brainstorm with my fellow scribes over what bloodline these newer giants are from. I have some ideas, but I want to hear arguements from a few different directions.
I can see Death Giants (formerly ash giants) as decended from either Stone Giants or Fire Giants, or perhaps a crossbreeding of them.
Sand giants, Eldritch giants, Geriviars . . . no idea.
Bog giants I can see as forest giant offshoots.
Ocean giants I can see as Storm Giant offshoots.
Let me know your ideas on this.

Yeah, upon further research, they do point out in giantcraft that Zhakaran giants may not trace their lineage back to Annam and Othea, so Sand and Sun giants may be decended from Zhakaran giants.
I also found a reference that points out that Mountain Giants are actually the offspring of Hill Gaints and Fog Giants, so that clears that one up as well.

Maybe the whole idea of Annam, Othea and their offspring is a myth.

Hmmm... Maybe sand giants are descended from the desert giant stock in Zakhara...

I was thinking Sand and Sun might be immigrants from Zhakara. Does anyone remember if they appeared in any Al-Qadim products . . . for some reason they sound familiar. |

While some of these new breeds might just be offshoots from established bloodlines, others might be immigrants from Zakhara, Kara-Tur or other lands, I would peg Sand Giants as such.
Several may be non-native interlopers from other worlds or planes. Sun giants may be genasi from the Quasi-Elemental Plane (or planar region) of Radiance. |
