Frankly speaking, I started playing Dnd Games on PC.....So I know nothing about the rules~ I just keep killing monsters and villains in Baldurs Gate and Icewind dale.....without knowing the rules at all...........
Anyone can provide info to help? |

Using the PHB (you'll need that) create a character following the steps. Don't use a computer program or anything, just pencil and paper. That's the best way to start learning the rules. |

The PHB and DMG would provide a good lists of the rules, but they can be confusing to a new player especially if there is no experienced D&D player around your area. I would suggest that you can ask around in this forum if you are unsure of some rules, that's the best way to kill any doubts about D&D rules and related rules for playing whatsoever.
There's a book called Idiot's guide to playing D&D, I saw it before, might help you too. |

I'd suggest the basic sets WotC puts out-they are a bit expensive, but they'll teach you the real basics the easiest. |

Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale (not IWD2) are all based on 2e rules, so if you plan on being up to date with the rules, don't go off of those games |

First off do you have a copy of the Player's Handbook and the Dungeon Master's Guide? Those are the primary rule books for D&D.
If you don't have them, just follow the SRD links in my signature to rich text format files that contain those 2 books and a bunch of others. These files are not as complete as buying the various books, but come close enough and are free. |

I reamainly firmly convinced that those who have never played any of the previous editions of D&D will have a far EASIER time picking up 3ed than those who have played the older editions |
