Posted - 25 Oct 2005 : 05:09:15 I love Candlekeep. Completely off hand comments by my fellow scribes send me skittering off for my old books to look over them becuase of something that I might have overlooked or wondered about at some time or another. Case in point:
Kelemvor Lyonsbane. We know what happened to Kelemvor at the end of his mortal life, but about his life, there are a few questions that are unanswered. Has it ever been established where Lyonsbane Keep is? We know he killed one of his brothers, but what about the other two? Did his uncle have children? Did he have any uncles or aunts besides the one that took him in? If he does still have living relatives, did the curse die with Bane's curing Kelemvor, or could a nephew (or neice?) or cousin end up with it?
Just wondering if there was any established sources that might have any answers to these questions. FR7 has a lot more information on Kel than we really find out in the Avatar Trilogy, and it kind of makes me wish he had actually been featured more before the Avatar Trilogy. |

Posted - 29 Oct 2005 : 06:06:36 Oh, I still think there is plenty of interesting potential in this family line. I must admit though, I was indeed more intrigued by the character and his family by reading his backstory in FR7 than in the actual trilogy. I wonder if the novels weren't altered quite a bit from their original focus by the end of the project. I know Ed has said that there are parts of the modules that he definately doesn't recall that were switched around and edited out the wazoo by the time everything was said and done.
The idea of living family members of a divine creature is intruiging to me, and obviously that goes for the current Mystra as well as Kelemvor. I just like digging up things that lie under the surface more so than just taking things at face value. |
