Don't know if anyone read this over at Enworld yet but I just happened on it, this is in referencee to the knew books that will be released, with rules revisiions,etc.. you can read the rest on the site: http://www.enworld.org/
* Yes, there will be full SRD support, if you just want the rules, you can download it all.
* All three books will be released in July, before GenCon, at once.
* There won't be any discount coupons or any of that for people who gripe and whine about having to pay for new books and just bought the old ones.
* This isn't 4e, the kernel of the d20 system, the basic classes, saves, etc. remain unchanged.
* The changes are of a variety of sorts: minor rules changes such as tweaks to some characters, alterations to spell lists, etc; and layout changes to things like the monster manual, each monster has its own page, each monster is illustrated, and there's not going to be any weird splitting of stat blocks and illustrations on different pages.
* The game now assumes that you use a battlemat (or something of the sort) and minis, and the rules are written to reflect this aspect of the game. |

I agree with you Edain. The death of Planescape was one of the company's worst moves in it's combined TSR/WotC history. However I think that this will make amends, at least a little.

To me it seems to me 3.5E is, in the truest "Brood War-esque" form, what 3E should have been. All and all, I am not overly opposed to switching editions, particularly since haste, harm, and heal all needed to be nerfe--I mean 'changed'. Unfortunately, the Gnome's favored class debaucle has led me to ponder, "What else could they have broken?". I mean, bard? How much dope are you guys at WotC on? Plus the annoying Mystic Thergue, or whatever, which seems like a min/maxer's wet dream. Of course, I am jaded after they killed Planescape (a mortal sin if ever there was one), but hey, here's to optimism. |

As for the combat changes, well I believe they are trying to steamline the system to make it more in line with a miniatures based version of combat. There were even rumors that the R&D division wanted to model it completely on the old Chainmail system of combat.

First what does SRD means
Then what i don't like much in the changes is that they assume that we use a drawings for combats. I feel that they'll make a new kind of Combat and Tactics for the combat section which i don't like much |

Well, from a personal DM's perspective, I can say that the changes are worth it, but I can also say that I probably won't be changing to 3.5 this year. The reason for this is because I have 3 campaigns running at the moment, and I want to fully understand the changes in 3.5 before I incorporate them into my campaigns. What this means is, I will most likely finish these current campaigns first, then when I have purchased the new core rulebooks, and only after I have studied them completely, will I then start running 3.5 campaigns.
This is totally dependent however on what exactly all the changes are. From what I have seen, I disagree with some of WotC's changes to D&D, for example, the Gnome favored class, and the rehashing of the Druid core class. There are some others, so again I will decide completely once I have absorbed all the changes.
But one should not forgot that they will be releasing the changes in the SRD anyway, so in a way, the purchasing on the new rule books becomes a mute issue.

I've already read a lot of articles about 3.5E But you can make word say what you want if you know how to make phrases that hide the truth. What i want is your point of view |

Actually i'm wondering if i should sell my 3E books. In France, not a lot of people are aware of the existence of a 3.5E so it'd be easy to sell them just before the 3.5E is released. Can you tell me when you first read it if it worths the change. Thanx in advance |
