What is the favored class for drows who worship Eilistraee? I think it must be bard, because they dance and sing under the moonlight and in order to be a cleric one has to know to play an instrument or sing well. I think at least a cleric multiclassing with bard shuld not get XP penalty. What do you folk of Candlekeep think about this?

I skipped replying to this before in part because parts were answered.

However followers of Eilistraee are still Drow and will still have the same favored class as all other Drow. Female Cleric, male Wizard being even raised within a different religion will not change this.

I do however hold that many that grow up in a communtity of followers of Eilistraee will most likely take Bard as first class. That growng up about and with music, song and dance that their childhood already provides thm with basic training as a result of culture.

Of course the game design makes it advantagious to take Bard at 1st charater level because of the 4x multiplier, but if just looking at a power build there are more skill points to be aquired with another class.

After level one the follower certainly will have choice of continuing as Bard, take favorite class or seek another class with either a even build or taking the slower level advancement (due to ex. pt. penality).

In addition to what Kentinal just said -

Based in Cormanthor, the Silverhair Knights/Sin Eaters represent a sect of priestly Eilistraee worshippers who have devoted themselves to seeking out vile drow and striking them down with non-lethal methods -- all by turning the sins of these vile drow against themselves. Similar to a form of penance, Silverhair Knights ensure that these evil drow are forced to confront the truly dark nature of their crimes that they have committed by using specialised class abilities which literally pull the 'sins' from the body of a deadly drow. These 'sins' are then absorbed into the 'holy' frame of a Sin Eater through the power of their faith.

They operate in most of the regions in the Realms where drow have an active presence, or may be trying to establish themselves.

Hmm one needs to be careful about what is said about them without violating copyright.

it is a 5 level PrC, so some requirements must be met.

Must follow Eilistraee, must be able to cast 2nd level divine spells along with some skill ranks and feats. There is no gender restriction noted.

Can not have ever killed a Drow before taking this class or atone for the killings bfore taking the class.

New Spells:

Awaken Sin can do as much as 10d6 nonlethal damage, Drow get a -2 to save.

Eilistraee's Grace Impoves speed, provides sacred bonus to Dex.

Moon Bolt Causes Str damage to living, cause undead to fall prone.

Moon Lust If failing to save become fasinated with the moon, more effective if cast when moon is visable, but provides a distraction cast when moon not visable.

Silverhair Knights AKA Sin Eaters of Eilistraee never kill Drow.

The most interesting Ability they have is Consume Sin, which can force an alignment change of another to Nuetral, a failed attemp however might kill the Silverhair Knight.

It isn't combat oriented and has more to do with redeeming other dark elves. There are some specific spells for it as well.

"Sin Eaters of Eilistraee" is the name of the article, and I believe that the actual name of the PrC was Silverhair Knight. Written by James Jacobs, the article was in issue 315.

For worshipers of Eilistraee I would say their favored class is either bard or ranger. Worshipers of Eilistraee enjoy music and hunting, they seek out songs and enjoy them and they hold the high hunt at least once each season where worshipers where any armor they want and wield any weapon but the clerics go on the hunt clad only in their skin and wielding only a sword.

As for the XP penalty, I think it should remain so things remain balanced. There is however a prestige class for female elves that worship Eilistraee in Faiths and Pantheons, correct me if I'm wrong.

The prestige class is Sword Dancer, but I think it is weak compared to other prestige classes and there is gender restriction and it is not appropiate for non-fighting cleric.

No, Races of Farun, page 36 shows that you are correct.

Therefore a drow cleric of Eilistaee can multiclass with any other class and not take a penalty. Bard seems quite appropriate, though you must be careful when multiclassing spellcasters as the caster level suffers and drops the power of their spells somewhat.

Oh, I don't know.. A drow bard? Can you imagine a drow, travelling openly from town to town and performing?
