Asar ath Que Tia Sol
Seeker of Lost Magic History

Since the Retreat, a few of the younger Tel'Quessir have began searching for lost knowledge, history and cities of the Elven civilization. These elves are often of the adventurous type, some with relatives hailing from Myth Drannor and other lost realms. Others are guided to the path of the High Mage and are in search of lost magic. Still others are elves desperate to keep their treasures out of the hands of the N'Tel'Quess. Regardless, this PrC paves the way for the character to become Epic.

Visions of the past: When in the vicinity of an ancient elven ruin, the character gets a brief glimpse of it in all of its glory. This includes seeing the use of magic. Character gets a +4 bonus to checks relating to the ruins.

Mystra’s touch: The character receives great insight into the ancient ways of elven magic and the Weave. From this point on, the character can detect magic at will. Character receives a +4 bonus to all spellcraft checks relating to elven magic.

Trash to treasure: When the character finds ancient elven relics that are broken, the character can use this ability to see the item as it was before. Character gains a +4 bonus to Craft checks

Whispers from Arvandor: The souls at rest are pleased with the character. They whisper bits of knowledge and lore when he studies the treasures of the past. Treat this as a legend lore spell.

Soul of the Weave: The character finds that as he learns from his ancestor he gains a closer attunement with the weave. Treat this as gaining any two metamagic feats.

Sehanine’s touch: Sehanine is very pleased with the character and his respect for the dead. While searching the ruins, the character has not desecrated any of their final resting places. From this point on, any intelligent guardians, such as crypt keepers, will not attack the character as he searches tombs and crypts.

Memories of the Ancients: His touch is gentle and his heart is pure. The ancient remains of the dead hold many secrets to past ways. Treat this as a speak with ancient dead spell. As long as there is an intact skull, the character may ask 2 yes/no questions per level. He may instead ask one detailed question and receive a truthful and detailed answer. He may ask only one question.

Corellon’s touch: The ancients who have passed consider the character to be Tel’ Araegisess (the Great Protector). While searching the ancient ruins, he no longer has to fear any form of undead native to the ruins. They no longer heed any command to harm the character. Instead, they will assist the character if he wishes, or he may give them eternal rest. A total of 15 HD per level are affected for 2 rounds per level. The undead will attack any enemies, carry items, etc for the character until the time limit. After that time, their spirits pass to Arvanaith.

Cormiira: The character receives the full blessing of Corellon. This come in many forms, depending on the inner goals of the character:

If he has been questing to learn about High Magic, Corellon grants him enough knowledge to qualify as a level 1 High Mage, although he does not grant an automatic ability to cast High Magic spells nor does he teach the character any Rituals. The character gains +2 to Intelligence (or Charisma) and Wisdom, as well as teaching the character 1d10 unknown spells (to be determined by the DM, but all are rare spells of at least 6th level).

If the character was questing to learn ancient fighting styles, Corellon grants him the knowledge to qualify as a level 1 blade dancer, blade singer, etc., and gives the character a powerful magic weapon (powers determined by the DM) as well as granting as +2 bonus to his Strength and Dexterity. The character gains an extra 2 attacks as a specialist.

Other classes receive similar boons.

There is no advancement past 10th level

Any comments?

Great Flavor!

There are a number of balance issues, I think. Like the Hit Dice thing. The PrC requires 4th level or higher arcane spell casting, knowledge arcana 10, and any 4 magic feats. Most arcane classes are d4 or d6, but you provide for fighter advancement as well. Which hit die do I take?

You give powers for each level, which is always a good thing, but you also provide either additional spellcasting, or normal fighter feat advancement.

Normal feat advancement PLUS powers is far superior to a normal fighter. I think the feat progression should be lowered to, perhaps, 1 / 4 levels, rather than 1 / 2.

I also find that the 'Whispers from Arvandor' and 'Memories of the Ancients' powers at 2x a day to be excessive. 2x a week seems a lot better.

And, I'm going to assume that the numbers you gave for BAB and saving throw progression were either a typo or some error in formatting. Jumping 2 points seems rather odd.

The class has much more of an explorer feel to me, than a "reclaiming" one. I personally feel that any elf would be able to take the class, and the more adventurous moon elves would be more likely to do so.

Just some initial thoughts. I REALLY enjoy the flavor though. A lot of the powers and just the general concept are fantastic.

Why do you feel that way?

As always it is up to DM perogative. This said, I always felt that the gold elves were much more inclined to "take back from the humans" than the moon elves. Other than this, I didn't really have a reason.

Why do you see the PrC made up mostly of gold elves and only some moon elves?
