Posted - 16 Jan 2005 : 13:44:45 Grappling has been used very successfully against sorcerers that use some kind of magical armoring and mirror image. (easier to grapple images and get rid of them than to successfully attack with a weapon and produce the same effect.

In addition to Lina's point on keeping captives, think about a situation, say, in a tavern. Ok, there's a disagreement about something, the city watch around too, you know the consequences. Would you really draw a dagger or sword and attempt to kill the person which you're having the disagreement with, or would you wrestle him to the floor to retrieve your stolen coin pouch or whatever.
I'd say always try to avoid lethal combat in such situations, and think about it logically, as if the situation were in the world we actually live in today. |

yeah if one (wearing a full plate) jumps on a mage he will be a dead spell caster

The AC gets modified, the 3.0 character sheet did not contain the entry line however did have rules for grappling.
For questions like this you should be able to get answers from online SRD 3.5, the one I have bookmarked is at: http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/home.html there are other sites that also offer the SRD including WotC. It is hard to say which might be the best resouce for you as there are format differences. |
