Is it true cannon that there is a land deep in the East ruled over by monsters, who are in turn dominated by a Psionic Vampire Lord? If this is so, can someone tell me where the Source Material,which book, etc, is and what the name of this land is? If it is cannon, it is too cool for me not to use in a campaign, but I MUST have source material!!

WoW!!
The wild, incredible pipe-dream of a quest I whipped up for Sir Amblecrown at the end of his adventures under "Candlekeep Inn" section had actually been devised by another mind, in a different space-time continuum!

For the record, Veldorn is a land primarily of monsters, and there is in fact a vampire lord ruling a part of it. All of this was detailed in the old 2E product Faraer referred to (FR16 The Shining South). I updated the information for the 3E supplement Shining South, due out next month. And FYI, Faraer, I also resolved the confusion over Vaelen/Vaelan and its current role as capital of Durpar.

Sure, Veldorn, Land of Monsters. See FR16 The Shining South p. 67.
But is the city of Vaelan/Vaelen the capital of Veldorn or Durpar? |

Actually, I think he's referring to the Realm of Veldorn, which was detailed in the 2nd edition Shining South supplement. I'm not real clear on the details, but I do remember a small realm ruled by a vampire and having monsters as citizens. I believe it was located near Durpar and Var the Golden. |

I actually just remember reading on some website or another that one of those lands, somewhere by Durpar I think and a bit to the south (Murghom? Gah! I can't remember) was a land ruled by monsters with a vampire lord ruling them. I guess it could have just been some guy's made up idea, outside of FR published information, I'm just trying to figure out if it was or not. |

The one I made up is the closing chapter of the Tezail affair, where Sir Amblecrown goes and drops the Crown in Thayian territory, destroying the Vampire Lord and its kingdom. If he was not referring to this particular made-up story, then, yes, there is a slight chance out there that some of what he is referring to may be cannon... however I haven't heard of it!  |
