Posted - 08 Dec 2002 : 19:39:06 I've made a VERY long trip to come to the GenCon 2002. Does anyone of you were also there? What did you think about it? And will you go to Indianapolis for GenCon 36?
It was a dream which came true, imagine shaking the hand of Elminster, talking with Skip Williams about the Monster Manual II and with Elaine Cunninghan and R.A. Salvatore... During 4 days i was in Heaven! |

Posted - 09 Dec 2002 : 15:16:32 I'll have a looksee in my agenda... and at the open vacation days... But it does look like a nice opportunity. If it's better then the presentation of the 3rd edition for the BeNeLux which took place in the dutch city of Den Bosch, I'm up for it... |

I dont have the exact dates yet, but it shouldnt be long now until its officially released. They have mentioned a few dates but nothing set in stone yet. I have contacts with the company who are running GENCON next year so as soon as its been finalised then ill post something to this topic.
Theyre testing the water with Amsterdam next November to see how it goes, so really there will be two GENCONs in 2003!
Anyone up for a Candlekeep forums member meeting in April?

Posted - 09 Dec 2002 : 10:38:42 Rad, do you have the exact dates for the European version of GenCon? Even if it's in the only European country which doesn't consider itself part of Europe . |

Posted - 09 Dec 2002 : 08:21:01 It runs from a Wednesday p.m thru to Sunday evening I think. I usually only go on the Saturday as it has the most features and events but when it moves to Amsterdam I guess ill have to go for a bit longer to make it more worthwhile (as in the cost and time of travel, not other things just cos its Amsterdam!! ) |

Posted - 08 Dec 2002 : 21:10:18 OK, i'll try to go to the London one if i have enough money. How many days does it takes (i can't find the exact word: for example, for the US GenCon the answer would be 4 days) |

Posted - 08 Dec 2002 : 21:06:18 It has been in London for the past two years, previous to that it was in Manchester, and Loughborough for a couple of years. It had its longest run at Camber Sands on the south coast. I believe its at London again in April and then moving over to Amsterdam to make it truly European.

Posted - 08 Dec 2002 : 19:45:18 Wow, now THAT i would love!! I have never been to GENCON US, only GENCON UK\EURO GENCON which I have been attending since the early 90's. I love it but im sure its not a patch on US GENCON, however, I believe a new company (headed by Peter Adkison (ex-WotC)) is running EURO GENCON from now on and his intentions are to make it more like the US version!!
I met Ed Greenwood last year which was a great honor! His seminar was also great but the lack of organization of GENCON resulted in only about a dozen people turning up! Im sure if it was a scheduled and announced event then the auditorium would be packed!! Just very bad management from WotC that year I think.
Cant wait til April for the next one!! |
