Posted - 19 Aug 2004 : 21:40:59 Someone posed this question to the FR mailing list and I thought it was noteworthy enough to ask it here.
Has anyone ever created a summoning creature list for all the various spells based on the dieties? You know, clerics of shar summon X creature for Summon Creature I, and X creature for Summon Creature II, etc, etc.
I think it would be a great listing, but I know I am too busy to attempt it. Anyone want to give it a shot?
my thanks, |

i´m glad the project interest other scribes. as time allows it, i will start working on the "knightly orders-" part of the list (but i can´t promise it´ll be done soon; depends on how much free time i´m going to have...) |

I'm sure that Alaundo would, ah, insist on it being made public.

Posted - 21 Aug 2004 : 20:44:42 I would definitely be interested in seeing this sort of list. Will it be posted on the site here, or will it be something sent to individuals on request? If so, I'd be very interested in recieving a copy, however, I would hope to see it posted for everyone to get a look at.

Posted - 21 Aug 2004 : 07:44:08 Very interesting. I'm highly in favor of this, as I am of most things that allow clerics of one power to be different from another, beyond superficial differences like how they dress. (Some of the priestly costumes from the cited books can't be how all of them dress. I can't see that priestess of Lathander skulking about in a dungeon, after all.)
The list doesn't have to be completely unique to each deity, of course. Common monsters will easily overlap. In addition, you can't forget the monsters that some clerics would not summon -- for instance, I can't see Sharess giving her clerics the ability to summon celestial dogs. Doesn't really fit, don't you think? Now, it could be a very big cat, but that alters some uses for the monster. (For instance, a high-level caster could summon a celestial dog long enough for the monster to pick up the scent of a quarry and give enough of a chase to show direction, something a cat can't do.) |

Posted - 20 Aug 2004 : 11:15:52 sorry for posting offtopic, but i too had an idea for a list from faith & avatars (together with demihuman deities and powers & pantheons): i wanted to compile a summary of all the "knightly (or military) orders" that are linked to a specific religion. all three sourcebooks specify one order per religion, and such a list would be a tremendous help for decicions about the background of a npc or when creating a new character.
i´d propose that in the summoning list, all deities are arranged in the same order they appear in the sourcebooks (i.e. alphabetical), beginning with F&A, then DD and at last P&P. i will write my list in excel- format, so that new colums like the summoning table are easy to insert. |

Posted - 19 Aug 2004 : 22:34:04 If I was to attempt such a list, I'd have to refer to the god books of 2nd edition: Faiths & Avatars, Powers & Pantheons, and Demihuman Deities. Those books each listed various animals that the deities used to show their favor. It's not comprehensive enough to form a full list, but it's a starting point. |
