Can protection from arrows be made permanent? I've seen several character stats with the spell apparently permanent, and by permanency, but the spell description doesn't list it. It might just be one of those I'm-a-mighty-archmage-and-can-have-unusual-statistics (that was lengthy), but I'm not sure.

Actually, 3.5e makes some more sense. I wish they'd have tested it better the first time around, but then that wouldn't give them as much money . . . .

Go to this site for a downloadable, cross-referenced HTML version of the System Reference Doctument available at WotC -- this one is better and easily lets you read and find the differences between .0 and .5; no need to go out and buy .5 copies of books you already have.

Now, as to protection from arrows, further spells to be made permanent can be allowed by your DM (preferably researched in-character, at the end of which your DM lets you know if it works or not). However, protection from arrows has a damage limit in addition to the time limit. So if you make it permanent, sure, it would last forever . . . but in this case, "forever" is only as long as you have some points left to be reduced.

So in other words, it isn't worth it. Go invest in a ring that casts the spell three times per day or somesuch.

ahh, see, I'm staying with 3.0, I've little to no interest in going through the aggravation of having just bought most of the 3.0 books only to be foiled by an update. I like 3.0 and will stay with it

Thus, in my lack of being updated, I gave you the answer to be valid in 3.0, if your in 3.5, you now have your answer from AlacLuin.

The confusion of version changes strikes again. Thanks, AlacLuin.

Nono, Sourcemaster2 is correct, protection from arrows is not listed as a valid spell to be made permanant.
At least acording to the 3.5 SRD.

The list is kind of limited
Um, nevermind I found the issue.

acording to 3.5 SRD, protection from arrows is not valid
BUT
acording to the 3.0 SRD, protection from arrows, IS valid.
So these character stats must be useing the 3.0 version of permanency

I'm pretty sure, the way I understand it, most spells, and particularly protection spells, can be made permanent by means of the permanency spell. It's mostly just a matter of having access to both the desired spell, in this case, protection from arrows, and permanency, and if I'm not mistaken (I don't have the PhB on hand at the moment) use of the permanency has an XP and or coin cost associated with it. I'm sure one of the sages will give a more detailed description, but I'm pretty sure I'm accurate.
